I called Cedar Recovery to inquire about Sublocade injections for more easily coming off of Suboxone. The clinic I have been attending for years does not offer the Sublocade injections. I have been on Suboxone and in recovery with over 13 years clean, never have I relapsed or failed any monthly drug test. Since then I went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing and then a master’s degree in nursing so that I could help people such as myself with addiction. Dr. Harrison returned my phone call and asked what I did for a living, which had no significance to what I was calling for, and once he found out that I was a nurse practitioner he had the audacity to ask me, first, if I was licensed, which of course I am, and then if I have talked to the State Board of Nursing about being in recovery and on Suboxone. When I told him I am not required to do so he expectedly told me I’m better to stay where I am already going. Very disappointing. I am not required to tell any state board of my past, or even present medical treatment, especially 13 years later unless it interferes with my ability to care for patients per state standards. This is not a requirement of ANY state nursing or even medical board. There are many healthcare workers that are in recovery and still practicing. As a matter of fact the TN state board of nursing (BON) just lost a $10 million dollar lawsuit after a nurse was placed in the TNPAP program for diverting drugs from the hospital and when she advised the board she was in recovery with Suboxone they told her she had 3 months to get off of it. We all know that each person’s length of recovery with Suboxone is different. The nurse sued the board stating that the BON should not be able to determine the length of one’s recovery and the BON of course lost the lawsuit because that in itself, is unethical. In my opinion, the questions Dr. Harrison asked me suggests to me that he does not believe that people in recovery, or that are on Suboxone, can go on to live normal and productive lives and in my opinion, he should NOT be treating patients with any medication assisted treatment if he sees no benefit in doing so or hope that they can be functioning members of society. I was highly offended by his irrational question and would never recommend ANYONE to be treated by a physician with such a shallow opinion of people in recovery. I called Cedar Recovery because I wanted help to get off of Suboxone and he was more worried about whether or not I discussed my 13 year past with some secretary from the state. Ridiculous! Dr. Harrison definitely needs to do more research if he believes this is a requirement of any state board not to mention this would also be a violation of my privacy, something he should have had more than enough training on as a MD. This is my personal opinion and personal review that I wanted to share with the public. Update to this post: Because of this review Cedar Recovery went the extra mile and reported this situation to their Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Stephen Lloyd, who personally called me to rectify the situation. He not only told me that I was right, but assured me that this is not what Cedar Recovery is about and worked quickly to get me an appointment at their South Knoxville location in just a few days. I want to thank Dr. Lloyd, who has also been in my same shoes, for calling me because the conversation with Dr. Harrison really set me back in my mind. I am now more than happy to finish this part of my recovery with Suboxone/ Sublocade with Cedar Recovery and am confident that they would provide this type of great customer service to each and every patient. Cedar Recovery's primary concern is with your recovery, not treating you as a product like with other MAT centers, and that's because much of the staff are in recovery themselves. I can say from experience to Cedar Recovery is the best out there.

I have nothing but positive experiences at Cedar Recovery. The staff is very professional and friendly. Dr. Harrison and Carl are the BEST!! And I can't say enough positive things about Tammy and Judy. They are so helpful and caring. If they don't have the answer they won't stop until they do. I've had insurance for over a year but it wasn't being accepted in the office. But Judy did not stop until she got that worked out for me and now my insurance is accepted. Most places will not work that hard to help a patient with their insurance issues. I'm so grateful for these ladies. Thank you for all that y'all do!!

I can't recommend this place enough. The staff is extremely welcoming and Dr. Harrison is masterful when it comes to dealing with addiction and recovery. I wish I had more stars to give them! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Since Cedar Recovery took over the practice that I have been going to they have changed the payment structure every time I visit!! I was told that once the change over happened that insurance would cover everything except my copay but that has not been the case. Every month that I go in I am told that I owe more and more money. Two months ago I was told that I have a balance of around a couple hundred dollars and now having only visited a couple times I'm told my balance is near a thousand bucks!!! Having said all of that, I have been a cash paying patient for right at ten years now and have never been late to nor missed an appointment, never failed a screening, and never so much as a spec of a blemish in my folder as a patient. Actually I feel sorry for the folks that work in the Knoxville office where I go as they have done absolutely nothing but try to help me while their new bosses halfway across the state try to line their pockets with the hard earned money of those struggling in recovery like myself and countless others.
