List of Dr. Meredith Overholt's Reviews
I saw Dr Overholt briefly 16 years ago for a questionable place on my shoulder. As she was finishing that biopsy I asked her about a reoccurring spot on my scalp that I could feel. Her voice became elevated and angry, scowling loudly "I WOULDN'T KNOW, YOU NEED TO ASK YOUR HAIRDRESSER!!." I was puzzled by her anger, I kept thinking scalp is skin, how have I insulted her by my question, by my health concern. Inside I was upset by her angry response. The appointment was done. As I left I made sure to stop at reception and explain what had just happened and to say I would never be back again. (And I havent. Other than accidentally making an appointment at the skin wellness center years later with a different Dr, not realizing that's where Dr Overholt is. Once I did realize, I never returned after that once) The receptionist apologized. For years I wanted to ask about that spot on my scalp. I of course changed Dermotologist, but still was afraid to ask, even as wonderful as the other Dermotologist had been. I didn't want to insult them too. As I've had Squamish cell and Basil cell carcinoma multiple times, it's remained a worry. Finally heard a friend mention her Dr who includes the scalp, as my Dermotologist was on maternity leave, I made the appointment with my friends Dr who looked at the spot, said it was some sort of cyst. As my Dermotologist came back from leave, I explained that I was seen somewhere else, and I explained why. She looked at the spot and said she'd feel better doing a biopsy. It came back as Basil cell carcinoma. Thanks to Dr Meredith Overholts need to insult which overrides her care for patients safety and health or desire to treat her patients, that spot had been there 15 years. While I remain concerned for my health and safety due to the length of time it was there, I'm at least thankful it was Basil cell carcinoma and not something more agressive.
Very polite, professional, and exceptionally thorough. She explains everything, answers questions, and teaches you what to look for. She is cleary passionate about her work, unreservedly recommend!
I feel like more often than not, people only take time to leave reviews for negative experiences instead of positive and professionals don’t always receive the praise they deserve. Dr. Overholt and her nurse were both incredibly kind to me during my recent visit. She took the time to listen to my concerns and discuss some possible solutions for my skin issue. She took a painless biopsy and had the results rushed so I could receive the best treatment available. All of the ladies at this practice are amazing and this is the only dermatology office in the area I trust. Highly recommend Dr. Overholt and the Skin Wellness Center.
I was sent to Dr. Overholt, I had undiagnosed skin/scalp lesions and was losing my hair. Also had lost 30 pounds.I had a laboratory report showing positive for candidas. She refused to accept the lab report or retest. At my last appointment with her she walked into the room with 3 of her other staff members? She told me that there was nothing more that she could do for me. She said she had done all test and couldn't find the problem. I left her office in tears. One week later I picked up a copy of my records, she had diagnosed me as self harming myself! I disputed it but it still prolonged my being able to get the treatment I needed. I have a fungal/mold infection that is directly related to the candidas. I am still suffering from her profiling me.
Made appointment to see Dr. Overholtbecause I had previously made appointments with her for my parents who had raved how "wonderful" she was. Unfortunately, I did not have the same experience. I went for a skin cancer screening. She was very impersonal and very terse with her responses. When I asked questions, she came across as angry and annoyed as if I had inconvenienced her. Likewise, her assistant was equally as rudeand unfriendly. Not sure why they acted as as they did, but my experience was less than ideal.
Dr. Meredith Overholt listened, understood and took the time to explain things. Her nurse was fantastic too. Both very knowledgeable and friendly.
I have been coming into the Skin Wellness Center annually to have a full body skin exam with Dr. Overholt for several years now. Dr. Overholt is thorough and professional, and I would recommend her to any prospective patients!
Dr. Overholt was very knowledgeable and patiently answered all of my questions about acne. I would highly recommend her!
I trust this provider as far as her knowledge goes; she knows what she is talking about. However, she does not LISTEN. AT. ALL. I used to see her for my acne, then switched to another provider at the Skin Wellness Center because you, the patient, cannot get in a word edgewise. You can't ask questions. She talks the entire time that she is in with you, and although she may know what she is talking about, trying to have a conversation with her about your health is utterly pointless. Because you cannot talk, you can't get the best possible care because you can't explain symptoms. After I stopped seeing her, my mom started seeing her for eczema, and I accompanied her to the appointment which again proved that she does NOT LISTEN. I tried asking her a question ~10 times over the course of 15-20 minutes, and then FINALLY got to ask it and by that time I was frustrated. As a healthcare provider communication and open-ended questioning is very important, and she lacks heavily in this.
Meredith T. Overholt does not deserve a single star. I am 44 years old, lived all over this country, seen numerous dermatologist, and never have I experienced a more horribly arrogant doctor in my life. I saw this doctor after moving here three years ago. I homeschool and have two young girls. When in my appointment, not only did she roll her eyes at my children being with me, she disregarded all my concerns (I am a skin cancer survivor). I was treated by her and all of her office staff like I was completely incompetent. After living in Knoxville for over 3 years now, I have heard how Meredith T. Overholt (I prefer not to address her as a doctor since I strongly believe she does not deserve the title) is only cordial to people of “status”. So, if you have a lot of money or have something for her person gain, she may be nice to you. This lady is a disgrace. Save your time and money. If she was the last dermatologist on earth, I would cut my skin cancer out myself.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
