Dr. Schuchmann is very good wound doctor straight up at to the point . I highly recommend him
Dr. Schuchmann has went above and beyond for me and saved my life more than once. He takes great care of his patients. As long as you do what you're suppose to you're good to go. If you're lazy, you'll hear about it as well. So do what you're told and you'll heal. Don't do what you're told and you'll hear about it.
This man saved my life in 2018. He comes off rough and gruff but he is a nice man. He was very caring and was very concerned for me. I hated he sent me to another dr to do my surgery and that dr was not nice to me. It took me almost 3 years to get over my pancreatitis. I am thankful God sent me to fort sanders. If any of his staff see this please tell him I said thank you. May God bless him for all his days.
Absolutely love my doctor. He has been wonderful every step of my wound care process along with his staff. If you do your care the way you are supposed to at home you should have excellent results along side his treatment and care.
We are forever grateful for Dr Schuchmann. He is talented and skilled and my daughters wound and foot couldn’t be doing better! We have followed his guidance as suggested and on our way to complete healing. He’s very talented and I’m so thankful for him!
I had to have a cyst removed that was at the very corner of my left eye, which is the only one I can see out of. I was concerned for obvious reasons. Dr. Schuchmann did a fantastic job. The cyst was the size of my thumb nail, it was removed and the scar is hardly noticeable. Great job Doc. Thank you.
I went to him when I was pregnant with my 3rd child to ask him about having hernia surgery. He told me to come back in a week after giving birth. So I did, when I went back he said to come back a month after giving birth. So I did, he did surgery. Within a few weeks my hernia pop back out. I went back he told me it must have been because I just had a baby that he would do a ct scan. After doing a cat scan I never heard back from them so I called their office the nurse said she will call me back after she talks to him. Finally got a phone call from her and she said he could do surgery again but you are over weight. I told her that I was pregnant for 3 straight years and proceed to tell her that I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks, then had a still born baby at 37 weeks and 5 days being pregnant with him and I finally had my rainbow baby. And that I just had a baby. Then she proceed to tell me that I was 200 some pounds and said again well your overweight. THEY WAS THE RUDEST PEOPLE THAT I HAVE EVER MET. The doctor wrote that he put mesh in my stomach. I went for a second opinion and my new doctor did surgery on me bc I ended up having 2 hernias not just one. And also told me THEY WHERE NO MESH IN MY STOMACH.
I’m not going to lie these bad reviews really had me so nervous. I was referred to him due to an umbilical hernia. The wait time was extreme, like over an hour extreme but maybe it was just a busy morning. But the surgeon made up for the long wait. He explained everything and actually listened to what I had to say. He went into full detail about the surgery and healing process. He didn’t rush through to move on to the next patient. I felt heard and validated. And my three year old has sensory processing disorder and was talking and messing nonstop. So he took the time to blow up a glove for him to keep him entertained while we talked. That to me speaks volumes to me about his character. He didn’t make it seem like my son was an inconvenience. I will also add I had the surgery with him at the end of last week and he was great! The only thing I will say is if you have questions it’s hard getting in touch with Becky who does the scheduling I tried calling her 3 times the day before the surgery and never got a call back. Aside from that Dr. Schuchmann is hands down the best surgeon, and I would rate his bedside manners 5 stars. I had zero issues with him.
My experience as a surgical patient of Dr. Schuchmann was a nightmare. He was cruel, insensitive and uncaring. When I told him I would not have a second surgical debridement without spinal anesthesia, he started shouting at me in front of the surgical staff and the anesthesiologist. The first surgery had been done this way successfully. I was given excessive pain meds after the first surgery and later found out by accident that I had even overdosed and I had to be given Narcan to revive me. They never told my husband or myself. I was given oxycodone which was an ingredient in Percocet that I told them I was allergic to and it caused a horrible rash. I suffered with it for weeks and all they did was throw me a tube of cream. They told me it was Stephen Johnson syndrome which if you looked it up online, was nothing like the rash I had. After being in bed so long I was unable to move and couldn’t put the cream on myself. During this time I lost all interest in food and ate absolutely nothing for a long time. None of the doctors or hospital staff seemed to care and offered no help. I was diagnosed with malnutrition and prescribed a feeding tube at the next hospital I was sent to because I was told by my nurse Sue, “Dr. Schuchmann is going to kick you out of here if you don’t do what he says. I could not agree to another surgery by a Dr. who treats people so badly. The last day I was there, I woke up to Dr. Schuchmann flipping the lights on and painfully ripping my bandages off while shouting at me. I never saw him again. I was refused treatment at 2 rehab centers.I chose because Dr. Schuchmann lied and told them I fired him. I was told by my nurses that Dr. Schuchmann didn’t want me to have therapy so my legs would stay elevated, but because of this,I lost the ability to walk and 7 months later am just recently able to walk with a walker. Beware of Dr. Schuchmann and the hospital he practices at or you may be setting yourself up for a horrible ordeal.
Thankfully, this surgeon cuts expertly. His two nurse practitioners make his rounds, one woman and one man. She was excellent. He, ( the other N.P.) disliked relaying my concerns with my surgeon. He was dismissive, condescending , disrespectful and threatening. Messages from me to my surgeon were delayed a day or more with painful results. Nurses often said: "I will be right back"only to return hours later, if at all. My first post-op walk was a very slow painful completely naked trip to the nurses desk to get help. I had forty staples and many tubes. Also, I was told repeatedly by the surgeon's staff that my Drs orders were IN the computer. Half the time the nursing staff told me the same orders were NOT IN the computer. And the nurses proved to be right. In my experience the third floor was an understaffed, poorly maintained, unsterile area with communication breakdowns between departments and between staff and patients.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
