John Robertson's Online Review Report Card

I haven't actually had an opportunity to visit this place, however, I Believe it will save some trouble for anyone who is planning on using their insurance to know that they do not accept it there. The minimum amount that it costs out of pocket to see one of these specialists is $230 per visit, there is also a $230 first appointment scheduling for a visit. I have been notified that it is well worth the amount to pay out of pocket to see a psychiatrist that will listen to you and consider your opinions as you seek treatment.

Dr. Robertson truly listens to patients, their parents and offers individual treatment plans that often result in the remission of symptoms. His knowledge of psychiatric disorders and the many treatment options is profound. I thought we would never get my son back to his baseline, but with his help and up to date knowledge of older and newer medication options, he has been able to achieve that. I am so grateful he is part of the Knoxville community and would strongly recommend him to anyone that feels unheard, has treatment resistance or isn’t happy with their current regimen.

Having read some of these dismal reviews... I had to contribute. I was a patient of Dr. Robertson as a teen and I found him to be friendly enough... and was overall satisfied with my experience and treatment under his care. (I'm 52 now, so this was some years ago, but my memories of him and Stephanie, a psychotherapist on his staff, are warm.) I think its important to be conscious that physicians are educated to treat and they treat using pharmaceuticals most often, especially in Psychiatry.

A doctor that actually cares and has a staff that is amazingly attentive. Extremely clean and organized office as well, very professional. They listened to my personal situation and have been one of the only offices to truly make me feel like they care about me.

I am thankful for all Dr. Robertson and Lisa on his staff have done for years. They are professional and have helped someone close to my husband and myself. We cannot say enough good things about them. Psychiatric care is medical care with medication. It is not counseling or physical therapy. Psychiatrists evaluate based on symptoms presented by a patient or on the patient's behalf. Deciphering which medication is best for each patient will take the knowledge of multiple cases over multiple years of expertise - and patience on the patient's part because every person still is a unique patient. As such, finding the correct medication takes time in evaluation and process.

The absolute definition of a pill pusher. I saw him with my sister about 10 or so years ago when we were both just approaching our teens. We were given medication our first appointment. He doesn't care about his patients, he cares about the numbers and is very clinical, not personable. I was on over 400 milligrams of Seroquel and expressed my concerns to come off of it because I was having memory problems, as was my sister, and we would become so sedated that we could not swallow properly. As minors we had no choice in the matter, but he was meant to be our advocate and he failed us both. It was traumatic to us both, we had several side effects of tremors, and we still remember and feel so badly about what we went through as his patients. Please avoid. Especially when it comes to your children.

The office is very clean. Staff is nice and helpful. You normally don’t have to wait too long to see the doctor. Dr. Robertson is very helpful and listens to his patients well.

Got it right Dr. Robertson correctly medicates for ADHD and autism for children. If this is important for your child functioning in society I strongly recommend it. If you do not believe in medication I would strongly recommend not seeing him and doing it your own way.

Dr. Robertson is the best psychiatrist I’ve seen in the last 33 years that I have suffered from Treatment Resistant Depression. He has never given up on me. He’s personable and genuinely cares. His nurses are awesome as well. So helpful and caring. Even when a treatment doesn’t work for me, they don’t let that deter them from doing everything they can to alleviate my suffering. I’ve been with him for 23 years and am so thankful that I found him! Would recommend him wholeheartedly!

Dr Robertson has helped me through a very difficult time in my life/ but still working on my anxiety.... He is a great doctor.
