Regarding Team Health after hours answering service paid handsomely by our pediatricians group...If I could leave zero stars, I would. My son was prescribed an antihistamine (AH) eye drop which I was told was available in a generic form only to learn it was NOT, and our copay was $100. I called the Team Health after hours line asking them to call in a drop that comes in generic, which they did after some pleading. The initial response was they didnt want to bother as this was not an emergency. (If you saw my son you may disagree...gray in color with extreme purple under and above his eyes).Next morning I call the pharmacy. Pharmacist says the person that left the new Rx mispronounced the drug name so badly, he could not even guess what was being prescribed. Another call to Team Health after hours. I tell the lady the situation, and she asks me to spell the name of the drug. If I could spell the name of the drug, there would be no problem and I wouldnt be calling. Are you even listening??Yet another Rx is called in. Pharmacist alerts me this time they prescribed an antibiotic (AB) rather than an AH. My son has been on more ABs than I can even count. Not giving him another for something that can be handled with an AH.Another call to after hours. It takes 11.5 hours to receive a call back each time mind you. I ask, please prescribe an AH thats available as a generic, as was originally intended. Get my call back to be told the doctor on call (Dr. Matthew Muehe) wont prescribe anything bc he hasnt seen my son! We know he needs an AH drop, and has needed since yesterday. And Im pretty sure Dr. Muehe hasnt personally seen any of the patients the calls are about. I am certain Dr. Muehe decided not to prescribe anything, and therefore punish my 2 year old, because he was irritated with all of my calls to Team Health, never mind that if anyone there could do anything right I wouldnt have to keep calling! Team Health after hours answering service = totally inept and unprofessional!
TeamHealth employs unethical billing practices. A full year after receiving emergency care at a local (Maine) hospital in February, 2019, we received notice that we were delinquent on a $113 invoice. Upon further review, we found that we had paid the invoice in full after insurance paid their share. When we started receiving text messages last month from an organization called TeamHealth, whom weve never heard of, it raised some red flags. We called the number online and spoke with someone who knew about the emergency visit. They claimed TeamHealth never received what they needed from our insurer until January 2020, hence the delay in billing. Things still didnt sound right, so I called the Patient Accounts department at the hospital we visited. Apparently, the ED physician seen was in fact employed by TeamHealth. How were we to know???Patient Accounts at the hospital confirmed that our bill had been paid in full an entire year ago. My next call was to our insurance company. They informed me that as far as they can tell, the invoice has been paid, and they sent the necessary documentation/information to TeamHealth in April, 2019. Why then, are we being harassed by a company weve never even heard of? I cant help but wonder if illegal coding methods are being practiced.
While looking for employment I applied for a medical billing position in Ohio. According to Google the median range for this position is a bit over $22 per hour nationally and about $24 per hour in Ohio. I have interviewed over the phone 3 times for this now and here are the results. In an effort to give full disclosure, I do not have experience in this field, but I do have transferable skills that far exceed the job requirements. Interview 1, I was told that they were looking to hire in at $17 per hour. I took that as an opening for negotiation, and since I would be coming from over $20 per hour, I countered with $18-$20 per hour. I was told that we could discuss this further with the hiring manager and get back to me. Interview 2, I was told that the hiring manager stated that without experience in medical billing, the best they could do was $15 per hour. I thanked them for their time and professionally expressed surprise to such a counteroffer. Interview 3, I was called out of the blue and surprised to hear back from them after the previous experience. I took this as them seeing the error of their ways and possibly moving forward in this business relationship. I couldn't have been further from the truth. I was asked if I would still be interested in the position and when I said yes, they mentioned that the position paid $14 per hour. I expressed that this was quite a bit of a surprise as the local McDonald's starts people at that rate. The recruiter said that they are aware of this and it has been a topic of discussion in their meetings but that currently, "It is what it is." I have never had three phone interviews for one entry level position in my life, much less had the pay scale dropped twice during discussions. If this is how they hire it makes me wonder how they do the rest of their business.
A garbage company. They buy blackmarket phone # lists and then spam the numbers with text messages. They are desperate - likely will go bankrupt soon seeing that they've resorted to these shady tactics in a last ditch effort to stay afloat.
