Amy Patterson's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Patterson is very thorough, caring, and informative. Willing to fight for your child to get the medication he or she needs. Very kind and compassionate, wonderful bedside manner, and overall a great doctor. She has done everything in her power to help get answers for my son and I would recommend her to anyone looking for an epileptologist.

Dr. Patterson misdiagnosed my child. She is terrible and does not take the time to look into issues she is unfamiliar with. If she doesn't know she'll just say "I haven't heard of that... I'm sure they're fine and it's nothing to worry about".

We were referred to the nuerology group by both our pediatrician and a neuro ophthalmologist. The first available appointment was with Dr. Amy Patterson. We saw her one time. She was very nice but you can tell in the visit she lacked experience, maturity and the medical knowledge needed to assist my son. She took lots of notes but admitted that she was not familiar with my son's symptoms. We discussed a couple other issues and were sent on our way without any real answers or game plan to look into his symptons. She suggested I try to get the symptoms on video. I followed up with her nurse after the appointment to share the videos but the nurse said they didn't need to see the videos and that Dr. Patterson had not heard of his suspected condition/symptoms from the nuero ophthalmologist. Therefore, she was not concerned. I was shocked they didn't want to see the videos (I've showed them to his pediatrician and she told me she was concerned and he needed to get back in to see nuerology). I've asked Dr. Patterson to release my son as a patient, so I can get a second opinion from another doctor at the hospital. She told me was was disappointed I wanted to switch but would release him. Since that request, she will not release him and I am being given a hard time by the nuerology group to switch. All I want is a second opinion by someone who is a little more familiar with his symptons. I feel like her pride has gotten in the way; she's upset with me and taking it personally that I asked to switch doctors. My son is the only one she is hurting at this point. I'm extremely disappointed in her level of professional maturity. We are now having to travel to Vanderbilt for a second opinion, because she will not release him for us to get a second opinion locally. I do not recommend Dr. Amy Patterson as she does not have the child's best interest at heart.
