Benjamin Pettigrew's Online Review Report Card

We just had Ben from Pettigrew Plumbing & HVAC out of Portsmouth redo the pipes under our kitchen sink and also replace an upstairs shower drainpipe. He was efficient and personable, and happy to answer any questions. We are very pleased with the service and the reasonable pricing. We will be calling them for any plumbing jobs that come up in the future!

I called this company because they said they service A/C units and provide "full service" including repair and maintenance. I described that I had a "thru the wall" A/C unit, NOT a mini-split, and that I needed a tech to service it and clear out the condensate drain so that it will stop leaking into the house. They told me they'd send an A/C tech that knew what he was doing. He gets there and he has no idea how to service it. He told me he had to look it up on the internet! He never cleared the drain. The water is still leaking...he did a bunch of cleaning to the unit and suggested a new system. Left...nothing was actually fixed. Got a bill for $300 ! Terrible service. No expertise, no professionalism. Don't bother with this place. If they had arrived and didn't know how to tackle the problem they should've left and not charged anything, or just not taken the job at all. No professionalism here at all.

I had Pettigrew come out and do a series of plumbing jobs over a period of about a half a year. Two of them were done well and efficiently. These were; (1) replacing outside faucets, and (2) separating our water softener system from our outside water supply. The third, install was for a new gas line to be installed for our recently purchased gas insert fireplace. This went off with one small hitch that required a second visit. However, they didn't charge for this return visit recognizing the error. The fourth project was to fix a furnace pressure overflow tank and associated values. Turns out they only fixed part of the overall problem. In this case they owned up to the issue, not fixing the entire problem and gave us a significant discount.With both the third and fourth jobs there were issues. In both cases they owned up to the mistake and fixed them with little or no charges to us. I consider integrity and doing the right thing a big deal. Overall their work would have given them just under a 4 rating but I'd give them a 5 star on integrity. As a result I would recommend them to others and use them again myself.

Worst service I have ever noticed,they charge us fees not even doing anything,it is rediculous. What type of service is this?,even you need to give us estimate or code before you charge the fees.we had never experienced this type of service

Mac was great. It was an annual cleaning of my gas burner and an installation of a wi-fi thermostat. He was in an out quickly and everything was done to my satisfaction.

Tony was here once to assess what was needed for our shower to work properly and came back to install new fixtures. He is smart, professional, pleasant, clean, and quiet. I've had plumbers who had none of these qualities with other companies. Pettigrew Plumbing has always been a pleasure to work with from the initial phone call to completion of projects. My mother was admitted for a seizure and the doctor says she just had a seizure did not run to CT Scan of the brain to determine why she had the seizure and did not do the blood work to see if my mother had enough medication in her body so they maybe change the dose. You don’t just have a seizure it has to be a reason.

We called Pettigrew Plumbing and HVAC because we saw good reviews online. We didn't know anyone in the area and took a chance. It was a great choice. The first time for their plumbing skills and the 2nd time was for their HVAC skills. The estimates and work were done by Ben, Eric and Tyler. They were all very friendly and totally professional. I'd recommend them and call them again if we need more work done. It's nice to feel secure about a company like we do about this company.

Overall I was very happy with the experience. They fit me in same day. The work was good and customer service good all around. - and I was pleasantly surprised by the total cost. The only negative was that,after he left, I noticed that he had to pull down some strips of fiberglass insulation to access one pipe. - he did not replace the insulation to where it was. - not the end of the world...but now i have to crawl in the space in basement and do myself.

Fantastic company. Cannot recommend highly enough. Pettigrew was the only company I called that was willing to assist the day of to fix an emergency plumbing issue. So very appreciative of Pettigrew's superior service.
