Life Savers. Highly Recommend Being A Patient Of This Clinic. Dr. Jane Hankins And Mr. Owens Are The Best.

I have had the same hematology doctor since age 19. Years ago, when he shared with me the concept, vision, and services that would be provided I was enthusiastic. When he advised me of the location of the center I was very skeptical. Once the center was operational, the location didn’t matter to me and it’s a nice facility. However, my concerns are with the policy, procedures, and lack of communication from the staff. I have addressed my concern with my physician as well as the Director previously. Due to my extensive history with my hematologist, I did not want to publicly address my concerns. I shared this with him previously as well! Personally, I don’t have any complaints with my hematologists, except our ongoing battle with my “none compliance” with Hydroxyurea (a pill form of chemo). I understand that we’re all adjusting to our "new normal" during this COVID-19 pandemic, but unless you’re on sick leave, vacation, or leave without pay (like me), then it’s “business as usual!” Living with Sickle Cell is enough to stress about, so I don’t care to stress about professionals not doing their job! As Sickle Cell professionals know, stress can trigger a Sickle Cell Crisis! On yesterday, it was very stressful to receive a certified letter from my employer stating that they have not received the requested documentation from my physician regarding my current leave. I’ve been on leave since April 2, 2020 and I made the initial email request on April 6, 2020. My last correspondence with HR and the physician’s staff was July 15, 2020. At that point, a letter was provided, but it wasn’t on letterhead. I was advised that they would put the information on letterhead, per my employers request. It was equally stressful, being advised on Thursday that my short-term disability claim has not been processed for the same reason, lack of documentation from the physicians office. Another ongoing concern is medication. I’ve had to start emailing my medication request just to have documentation because I can’t rely on “I will put your request on his desk Ms. Walton”. I shouldn’t have to call everyday just to get a refill for the meds that keep me out of the hospital. Either it is time for the physician to send the electronic request to the pharmacy or not. If the prescriptions are not due at that time, then the patients should receive notification from the staff, which would stop the Sickle Cell Warriors from calling multiple times to the office. I’m sure that since the physician is able to send electronic prescriptions to the pharmacy, then the clinic could have an operational patient portal. The patient portal should allow the Sickle Cell Warriors to send prescription request, schedule appointments, and communicate with the staff. My last concern is that I did not have a clue that the hours of operation had changed, due to the coronavirus. This was a major concern that I addressed months ago that the policy and procedures changed that the patients are not notified of. I learned about the charges by calling the office and listening to the message. Lately, I’ve been emailing the staff because not gets accomplished by calling. Hopefully, me sharing isn’t a waste of time and doesn’t fall on deaf ears again! It appears that after 20 years with the same hematology doctor, I’ll be looking for a new doctor. Please provide any suggestions thanks Memphis Sickle Cell Warriors!

The ER, Hospital, and the Clinic are terrible! I hate going to the clinic . . The people there are not nice, I only like 3 out of the whole building. Never come here!! Ever!!!

So Far The Best Clinic I Know That Treats Sickle Cell Patients. Treat Them Better The Emergency Room An Hospitals.

I was saddened when I received a letter from Dr. Li stating that he was leaving the facility. I will never find another Dr. like him. Because of him, my scar is practically invisible after my surgery. I have tried looking him up in hops that he went to another facility here in Memphis, but it appears that he has left Memphis altogether. We have lost a great Dr. and because of his great care, it is very hard for me to find another Dr. like him.

Dr. Li is very thorough, and concerned about his patients. He also makes sure if it's something he doesn't specialize in he refers you to the write doctor or resource. Beside manners are the best! It's unfortunate that I can no longer locate Dr. Li to date; however, if you know where he is as of now, until his information is updated..Please let me know ....

Dr Li was the most caring doctor I have ever had. I had many complications during my pregnancy, and Dr Li saw me as often as I needed and referred me to specialists to make sure I was comfortable and my unborn son was safe. After my son was born, Dr Li visited him in the NICU several times, even though he wasn't even on his case. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
