List of Harvey Poret's Reviews
In March 2023, I had a massive heart attack that required open heart surgery. Dr. Poret assisted my cardiologist in the Cath Lab the day of the heart attack and later performed the CABG surgery. Quite literally, he and the other doctor in the hospital that Sunday morning saved my life. While he may be very plain spoken with his patients, and you may not always like what he tells you, I prefer honesty over sugar coating the truth. Throughout the surgery, hospital stay, and follow up care. I found him to be highly skilled and very knowledgeable. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing cardiothoracic surgery.
I woke up from my open heart surgery violently vomiting! With a brand new 8-inch incision and my sternum sawed in half and wired back closed. Why was I vomiting? Because this inhumane "doctor" had decided that the medical alert on my hospital file saying I was allergic to all codeine products was a joke, or it didn't apply to him, and administered it to me while I was still asleep from the surgery. When I confronted him with this fact he smirked and said that I was not allergic, I was intolerant! My reaction to codeine products (since the age of 16 after wisdom teeth removal, I'm 51) is vomiting to dry heaving for a full 24 hours. He refused to change my pain medication and told me that if I get desperate and in enough pain I would take the codeine. Does he think he is the modern-day equivalent of Mother Teresa who is well-documented to have taken joy in her patients suffering believing that it brought them closer to Jesus? He claimed to be a Christian, repeatedly.
I had open heart surgery by this person in Knoxville Tn. He is a horrible human being with zero compassion for his patients. I woke up from my open heart surgery violently vomiting! So in his infinite wisdom, he had decided to test his theory out on a 92lbs woman who he had just cut open and sawed in half. My reaction to codeine products (since the age of 16 after wisdom teeth removal, I'm 51) is vomiting to dry heaving for a full 24 hours. So when I should have been given pain relief to allow my body to heal he instead gave me a medication that caused me to dry heave for 24 hours causing extreme pain to my chest and body. He refused to change my pain medication and told me that if I get desperate and in enough pain I would take the codeine. This was inhumane, vile, arrogant, and blatantly dismissive of the pain I was in! I never took any more pain medication in the hospital for the several days I was there after surgery since he refused to give me pain meds that would not make me vomit. And when discharged he tried to give me a prescription for the same medication! Anyone that has any empathy for his fellow human beings would never be so cruel to another, especially one that claims to be a Christian as he did repeatedly. Does he think he is the modern-day equivalent of Mother Teresa who is well-documented to have taken joy in her patients suffering believing that it brought them closer to Jesus? Another vile human that claimed to care for people while her patients suffered at her inhumane hands and vile mentality. She ironically died of a heart attack.

Dr. Poret was the cardiothoracic surgeon who performed my open heart surgery earlier this year. He did an excellent job with the surgery itself. Very small incision in a less visible place, it has healed nicely, and even more importantly, all three very difficult bypasses were successful. He made time on his daily rounds to answer ALL of my questions and the follow up care was excellent. Not only is he a fine doctor, but he is a caring, compassionate man who will use every ounce of his skill to save your life, just as he did mine. I highly recommend him.
My case was very rare. His experience of 7,000 by-passes gave Him the knowledge of what not to do that saved my life.
I trusted Dr. Poret with my life when I needed bypass surgery. It could not have gone better! Dr. Poret is now the cardiac surgeon at Tennova in Clarksville, TN. We're sure glad to have him! My wife used to work in healthcare and knew all the cardiac surgeons in middle Tennessee. Dr. Poret and his exceptional program made the decision easy! He ensures every facet of his program is top notch! Pre-op, CCU, cardiac rehabilitation and even a dedication dietician, there's no heart program better!
Now practicing in Clarksville, TN, I saw Dr. Poret as a follow-up to a car accident. He actually listened to me and addressed all my concerns. He showed me my x-rays and discussed what was going on following my injury. He took the time to tell me about the length of time for my recovery, what to expect, how to manage the pain, and ways to help myself in the recovery process. He was not in a hurry. His staff was outstanding. Everyone actually seemed to care about me, the patient.
My PCP called him to follow-up with me after a car accident. His staff made the appointment immediately. During my visit, he actually listened to me, showed me my x-rays, discussed the length of time for my recovery, what to do and not do to help heal, how to deal with and manage the pain, and what to expect.
terrible bedside manner, yells at the nurses

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
