James Ryan's Online Review Report Card

I have been a patient of both Dr. James Ryan and his wife Dr. Michelle Ryan in recent years. They are Both ROCK STARS, no problems ever.

He completed a total hip replacement for me and is very experienced and has done them for years. I felt like I got the best care available! His PA Eric Men is also very knowledgeable and helpful. I really trust their team!

Dr. Ryan is en exceptional surgeon, and he has worked tirelessly to increase the skill and knowledge of not only his staff but the also for the care providers in our local hospital. He is very thorough, provides great information from both his office and through a patient introduction class to joint surgery.

Dr. Ryan replaced my left knee October 2018 then replaced my right knee September 2019. Both experiences from the check-in, to the prep, to the surgery, to the overnight hospital stay, to rehab were all excellent. Every person involved treated me very well. Dr. Ryan and his P.A. had to take a broken off screw out of my left leg -from a plate from a surgery by another doctor years earlier - and then straighten my leg. I cannot express my gratitude enough! Both knees are doing GREAT and I have my life back.

Thanks to Dr. Ryan I am now able to walk without pain after an accident 13 years ago. Before the hip replacement, the procedure, different options and what to expect were thoroughly explained. He spent time answering questions and informing of expectations. Each time I saw him, he asked...do you have any questions for me? I not only saw him before the surgery but twice while I was in the hospital. I received an information packet explaining the timeline and a list of things I would need after surgery. All the necessary tests were set up by his office. I thoroughly researched surgeons for hip replacement and he was the favored one by far. I, along with the many others would highly recommend him

Dr. Ryan and his team performed total knee replacement surgery 3 weeks ago. From Dr. Ryan to his PA Eric Moen to his nurse Keri and his entire team was a fabulous experience. And the nurses in the surgery center and the nurses at Albany General Hospital they were exceptional. Thank you to everyone.

I am an active 70+ year old male that is still active in sports. My right hip was bone on bone and produced quite a bit of pain. Dr. Ryan provided a balanced view of surgical and non surgical alternatives. Compared to my previous back and knee surgeries at Portland hospitals, Dr. Ryan and his staff were much more engaging and informative. The results of my hip surgery significantly exceeded my expectations. The trauma to my muscle structure in particular was lower than anticipated, resulting in a relatively short rehabilitation period. I highly recommend Dr. Ryan and his staff for their professionalism, great patient communication and follow-up concern for my health. The glowing reports from some of my friends that were treated by Dr. Ryan and his staff were certainly justified. Add my name to the list.

From my initial visit to my follow-up visits, Dr. Ryan was personally involved in my knee replacement surgery. The surgery was quite successful. Dr. Ryan met with me for my initial consultation. After setting surgery details with his competent and friendly staff, he called me personally on the day before surgery to set my arrival time. He checked in with me on the morning after surgery to answer any questions I had regarding my home care and recovery. Finally, he checked in on my first follow-up visit to make sure my recovery was going okay. He and his staff were helpful and pleasant during every meeting I had with them. Dr. Ryan, his P.A. Eric Moen, and I were all very pleased with the surgery results and recovery. The Albany Hospital Surgery Center, where the surgery was actually performed, is well staffed with capable, friendly, and helpful nurses, aides, and other members. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Ryan to anyone who seeks a positive joint replacement experience.

Dr. James Ryan is an exceptional Orthepedic Surgeon, caring, intelligent the best Dr. James Ryan and his staff far exceeded my expectations in terminating my debilitating hip and knee pain. I had both hips replaced in 2016 and no knee surgery. I do not have pain in my hips nor my knees. Thank you Dr. James Ryan.

I'm so thankful for Dr Ryan and his calm demeanor and showing me that my previous diagnosis of a total knee replacement was incorrect. He did a partial knee replacement for me and it's turned out perfect. I've been limping for so long after one botched surgery that I'd almost forgotten how to walk. Dr. Ryan is a champion , what would I have done with him! I could cry thinking about it. When you meet him you'll see like I did that he really cares. It's only been a few weeks since my surgery and I can already stand on my new knee. He showed me my x-rays and even I could tell he was right about his diagnosis.
