Melrose Blackett's Online Review Report Card

This is the first appointment I have ever walked out on mid way through. He was rude and would not listen to me about my own medical history. Instead of listening to me he badgered me about why my last ob ran blood test on the first baby doctor visit to find an issue to begin with. He just told me that’s not standard to run blood test like that the first visit. As someone who has a history of multiple miscarriages I am grateful my previous doctor went above “standard” to find the issue and prevent a miscarriage. To bad my previous doctor is retired because I would have loved to get bad news from him instead. Definitely think this guy needs a lesson on how to correctly talk to people.

I do not recommend this Dr. He delivered my grandson over a year ago. Labored for over 30hrs until he had nurse push pitosin to the max. And then, uses vacuum suction because baby’s not coming with mom pushing. Uses it once, twice, 3x….then the tool breaks. Gets another vacuum suction and uses it once, twice….and uh oh! He realizes Baby’s sunny side up!! Says if he can’t reach inside and turn baby to deliver, an “emergency” C-section will happen. Baby rushed to LeBonheur…mom didn’t get to experience skin to skin or even get to hold her 1st newborn baby. Baby stayed in NICU for 4 weeks. So no, I do not recommend this doctor. Enlarge my profile pic. His sweet face looked like a burn victim. 😢 How do you NOT know baby is sunnyside up especially when you’ve been monitoring for 30 hrs before delivery?? Suction that’s supposed to be use on back of head(no more than 3x)was used multiple times on our baby’s delicate face!

Dr. Blackett was my doctor years ago and he was the best obgyn ever.I was looking him up and had to give him his props. Nice,courteous and kind and above all else professional..

Dr. Blackett is one of the best doctors of all time. He is an dr that is all about a woman’s health, he’s not going to sugarcoat you and tell you that being 350 pounds is healthy. He’s going to give you knowledge to get your body on a healthy track, most doctors won’t. I’ve been going to him since I was 16 and he never steered me wrong. He delivered my first baby and now I’m pregnant again and I’m back with him again. He had said things a out me gaining but I know and I be like woah he gone get me, but that’s because I’ve built a two with him….. he’s the best don’t let these reviews make you not want to come. TRY HIM BEFORE YOU DENY HIM

Let me say this, my first experience with Dr. Blackett was good with my first child. But I just found out I was pregnant and my nerves is through the roof! I was in pain therefore, I went to the ER, but they said it would be a long wait... therefore, they called Dr. Blackett to tell him I was coming in that same day. When I got there, Remind you I haven’t seen him in years after my first child... I was kind of excited to see him because he did a great job with my first pregnancy. But let me tell you this time HE WAS RUDE AND VERY DISRESPECTFUL! He acted like he didn’t care about my concerns and he also acted like he didn’t want to answer any of my questions. I just stopped asking him questions... because I felt myself getting mad and I didn’t want to upset myself and stress even more. He is not compassionate! The provider-patient-relationship is so important! I don’t think he understands that he is working with emotional women during emotion times. It’s so frustrating. I was stressing out even more after I left from my appointment with him. He didnt assure me that he’s there for me and that he understands.. instead he was being rude the whole entire time! As if he was mad that I came in while in PAIN!!! I do not recommend him to anyone that is pregnant and serious about learning what’s going on with them, especially if you are high risk. Go see the other dr there. NOT HIM!!! **WARNING**

This dr is very dismissive of any women’s issues you have. He ran tests that I didn’t authorize instead of just listening to me. His office staff is rude and unprofessional as well. I went to another dr who was horrified at how my condition was and that it wasn’t take more seriously.

I've been going to him since 2018...when I was pregnant the wait wasn't that long. I would be in and out... Now, for my regular appointments he is sooooo slow...I can have an appointment at 10:15 and wouldn't get seen until an hour or hour and a half later. I would just be sitting in the room waiting.

I’ve been going to Dr. Blackett since I was 16. One thing I do love about him and that he’s all about your health. He’s a blunt doctor and if you’re not use to a straight forward answer about your concern maybe he’s not the doctor for you. I love Dr. Blackett he’s never stirred me wrong in none of my health decisions. I have read comments about him not shaking your hand, everybody don’t like their hands to be touched, so to me that’s just an excuse to put he’s rude. He might have a long wait time but every wait time is because the same way you want the personal attention and for someone to listen to you is the same he has to do with all of his patients. I can truly say I have never waited an hour to see him. The longest I’ve waited was back in 2011 when I was pregnant and he had to run and do an emergency c-sections on one of his patients that was in labor. They asked me did I want to wait or reschedule I chose to wait. That was the longest I’ve ever waited. He’s the best in Memphis!

Dr. Blackett is the worst. He’s so rude and unprofessional. I couldn’t believe it when he answered a call from his wife to place a freakin’ lunch order, while he was in the middle of performing a Pap smear on my first visit! I felt so uncomfortable and disrespected! He berated me for gaining 15 lbs during my pregnancy. I dreaded having checkups with him. I would not recommend him to anyone. I wish things would have been different for myself, but hopefully my experience will help someone else avoid this treatment.
