Communication prior to appointment could have been much better, but the visit was very pleasant and prompt. I would not hesitate to recommend this clinic or to return myself.
Excellent care from Dr Shea and staff. Very friendly environment.
If it were possible to give 0 stars I would. I can not comment on care but I can say wonderful staff. Dr. Shea refused to treat me or even speak with me after my husband and I commented on his poor choice of words and downright offensive statements. Absolutely no manners. We had an appointment scheduled for 12:30 arrived at 12:00 and were told by him to leave at 4:05. He was texting during appointment.
Would give a zero if possible. This will be our last visit to this office. My mother's appointment was at 8 am. We arrived at 7:50 . It is 8:50 and we are still in the waiting room. We are here for a simple routine procedure that takes less than 30 minutes.Absolutely ridiculous. This is the second time we've been here. And this is the second time this has happened. It's no wonder patients don't get seen according to their appointment time when staff and drs do not arrive until 8:15 or later.OMG We just went to the back 9:23 am just to sit and wait some more. Let's see how much longer this takes. Finally a Dr at 9:40.His only excuse. There is only one of me.
Dr. Paul Shea was the 3rd specialist I have had an appointment with and neither my PCP or the 2 prior ENTs could properly diagnosis and explain my bouts with dizziness 5 STARS!
I’ve always been impressed with Dr Paul Shea. I switched to him after seeing one of the other doctors. Dr Shea isn’t full of pleasantries, but that’s not what I see him for. He is always spoton with my diagnosis and therefore, my needed care. My Meniere’s Disease has been in remission ever since my perfusions serveral years ago. His care was life changing for me...in a good way. I still see him occasionally for routine care. On my recent visit, I was glad to see some remodeling had been done. Kind of odd that both the air conditioning and base heater were on in the exam room, but I don’t pay the bills. Oh, wait...yes, I do! 😜
Any sensory deficit can have a significant impact on your life. When possible, people seek help from aides/assist devices and surgery. That was the case for me, but it took me awhile to convince myself. I can remember exactly what I was doing when I noticed that I had a hearing deficit in my right ear. It was about 15 years ago, while I was on a conference call. As much as I hate conference calls, I was frustrated by the fact that I could not hear as well from my right ear as I did my left. It was not good enough to change the phone to my left ear. Of course, I initially thought it must be something in my ear that caused my hearing loss (e.g., wax, water, bug ?…). My colleague friends in the medical profession examined my ear. Even though I was thankful that they did not see some gob of goop or a bug in my ear, I was also disappointed that there was not going to be an easy fix.As time went on, I began having intermittent tinnitus and I noticed that my hearing was getting worse in that same ear. Finally, after several years of answering yes to every question of people sitting on my right side – sometimes to their shock and dismay and to having my family scream over the television because it was too loud – I decided to obtain a hearing test. The Shea Clinic in Memphis is world renown and best of all - local. The choice of care was easy. The hearing test was conclusive, I had a marked auditory deficit in my right ear. However, the audiologist thought that I might be a candidate for surgery. My symptoms were most consistent with my having otosclerosis of the stapes bone. It was an inherited disease. It turns out that Doctor John Shea, Jr. developed the surgery to correct otosclerosis and it was done right here in Memphis in 1956. This innovative surgery replaces the calcified stirrup bone (stapes bone) with a prosthetic. After much discussion and education, I was able to make an informed decision and ultimately decided to have the surgery. The son of the doctor that pioneered the surgery, Doctor Paul Shea did my surgery. Doctor Shea and all the staff at the clinic were highly professional. Through the entire process, I felt adequately informed. The recovery was not as bad as I had thought that it would be – one of the reasons for my delay. I anticipated that it would be rough since I was the one that got sick on the cruise ship while it was still docked at port. Thankfully, my recovery was uneventful. I used a scopolamine patch behind the ear and returned to work in 3 days and resumed my regular exercise in less than a week. I just had my follow up with removal of the packing and I must say – it was glorious – I could hear out of right ear. It was awesome. If you have a hearing deficit, I would encourage you to explore your options – a surgical cure just might be possible. I would give Shea clinic 6 stars but this post will not allow me to add one. Shea clinic receives high marks not only because of my success, but because of their sincere desire to see you improve.
He is an extraordinary Doctor.
Dr. Paul Shea is a God-send! If not for him, I would be in a wheelchair. He is very caring, thorough, and talks at length with you. Our family thanks God for opening the doors for us to find the Shea Clinic and Dr Paul!
I have been a patient at the Shea Clinic since 2003 and I am currently being treated by Dr. Paul. I recently underwent a perfusion that was very successful; it helped to reverse my hearing loss. When he gave me the results of my most recent hearing tests, he was as happy as I was. It was the best news that I had heard in a while. If you're having trouble with hearing and balance, please visit Dr.Paul Shea at the Shea Clinic; you won't be sorry!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
