Avoid, avoid... avoid at all costs to your health and well-being! Allows dogs to roam his back office (treatment areas - which are shoddy). Without exception will NOT allow any person or patient to enter the back office unless wearing a face diaper (mask) which are unquestionably proven to be totally worthless and extremely dangerous.  I refused to wear one and as a result was denied having a prescription filled that he'd filled on a previous appointment before the insanity and quackery of the "planned-demic" struck.  I am seriously considering filing a complaint with the TN Board of Medical Examiners regarding "Patient Abandonment". The staff is unprofessional, unfriendly, and could care less if you're there or not. Robert "seems" to be "caring" but misses out on so many aspects of being a real "doctor". If you enjoy medical tyranny and hypocrisy then this is the place for you. If not, you need to seriously find another doctor with his/her staff that is friendly and professional... and clean. Oh, and take with a grain of salt the "5-star" reviews.

Wonderful physician who is very compassionate.

Dr. Burns can be a great practitioner, but my experience with him and his office staff is inconsistent. The office staff seem like they'd rather not be there and are unorganized. I called and called and called to get a referral and it's still been over a month. I've been in excruciating pain and I can't get these people to respond. They either have too many patients or they need new staff. I have to fire them. You can't run a practice like this.

Dr. Burns is absolutely wonderful. He has a lot of common sense and mixes in holistic medicine with traditional medicine. I can't imagine growing older with any doctor but him, and I hope he practices for many years. He has a very calm demeanor and is very thorough. You leave his office with everything he has recommended in writing. So helpful! His staff is also very friendly.

My mother died under hospice and he completed a death certificate that was wrong, he refuses to talk to , discuss or change this. His nurse Susan is very nasty and hateful. I had to turn it over to the ME who ruled her death as an accident which was correct. I still cannot get a death certificate due to the fraud this man caused. His actions lack morals and ethics, and his nurse certainly has none. The death certificate represented what the RN said and what Medicare would pay for--- FRAUD, so wrong.

I love his office atmosphere. Dr. Burns is very knowledgeable and thorough. He is a great listener and he never makes you feel rushed. He puts his patients at ease. I feel lucky that he is my doctor.

Dr. Burns and his dogs are perfectly lovely; however, the staff at his office is shockingly rude, unprofessional, and neglectful. On 1/24/19, I called to speak to Dr. Burns about my 87 year-old mother with stage 5 dementia/Alzheimer's and was told by his staff that he was "out in the community" and would not be in the office until the following week. That said, the following day on 1/25/19, my brother dropped off a letter to Dr. Burns at the office regarding a medication we were interested in for my mom. By 2/6/19, there had been no follow up so I called the office again to speak to Dr. Burns. I was told to leave a message, and someone would get back to me, which didn't happen. Today, 2/7/19, I called again only to be told that Dr. Burns was "out in the community" for the rest of the week and would not get back to me until next week. I mentioned that was what I was told last week, and the receptionist started being argumentative with me and said that wasn't true.I told her I didn't want to wait yet another week for a response. The staff on the phone again brushed me off and said someone would get back to me. I said, "Do you even know what this is about?" so she could share my concern with one of the doctors or the nurse. She admitted that she did not. When I became upset about getting the short shrift, she then told me that the nurse was sitting next to her and had the letter, which my brother had dropped off on 1/25/19.Since the nurse was sitting next to the receptionist, I asked to speak to the nurse, but the staff would not let me speak with her. When I asked why not, she said, "Because she has nothing to say to you." At this point, I was very angry and completely taken aback. Never in my 50 years on this Earth have I been treated so rudely by someone in the medical profession. This kind of behavior is totally inexcusable and unacceptable.There are two receptionists at Dr. Burns office, and I want to make clear this is not the African American lady. This is the white lady whose name, unfortunately, I did not get. You, ma'am, are a disgrace and serve as an a barrier to seniors and families in need getting the care they deserve. I, myself, work in the medical field, and would NEVER treat people like you do. The fact that you even have a job, for which you do clearly don't have the appropriate temperament, amazes me. After getting off the phone, I called my brother and shared my concerns with him about the staff at Dr. Burns' office. He indicated that from day one, this particular receptionist has been nothing but unhelpful and unfriendly. After I got off the phone with my brother, I called another geriatric specialist in town and made an appointment with her. The staff who answered the phone was very nice and professional, which was a welcome change. We will NOT be going back to Dr. Burns' office.

Dr. Burns took care of my mom for 15 years or so.  He was extremely helpful to her, and to me, her primary caregiver, through all the issues of dealing with her Alzheimer's, her physical frailties (falls, breaks, etc.) and all her general healthcare needs. Dr. Burns was everything I could want in a doctor: He was available, accessible and invested in our efforts to do all we could to keep mom at home and to give her the best life we could.  Dr. Burns was everything I could've wanted and he is the best I could've done for my mom.  It feels very good being able to say that.I should add that Dr. Mehr in Dr. Burns' office also provided excellent care when we met with her.Dr. Burns and Dr. Mehr also took good care of my wife's mother until her recent death.I only regret that I cannot call on Dr. Burns for my own care because I don't yet qualify as geriatric...good news and bad news there.
