List of William Shappley's Reviews
If you have a problem with kidney stones, I strongly recommend you get an appointment with Dr. Rusty Shappley today. Don't wait for the pain to begin. Ask for Rusty specifically as there are three Dr. Shappleys. I'm sure the other two doctors are lovely people and good doctors. The Urology Group has a sterling reputation. However, my experience (he saved me from the pain of passing several kidney stones without medication) is with Rusty. After a scan showing several stones existed, Rusty admitted me in the hospital immediately and began the process of removing the stones. This after only one meeting and a preliminary conversation to establish a doctor patient relationship. At our first visit, I explained to him that I never wanted to pass a kidney stone again, ever! 7 stones were removed from my body without pain. Today I'm back for an ultrasound check up and possibly two more stones have formed. I am fully confident they will be taken care of by the experienced, talented and caring Dr. Shappley. Yeah, I highly recommend Dr. Rusty Shappley!
Not sure the picture on the website is correct but I saw “Rusty” Shappley and he was what I needed.
Had to wait for 20-30 minutes in a busy office but was very satisfied with the result and his terrific bedside manner with attention to my concerns.
My son has been a patient of Dr. Rusty Shappley for years with great satisfaction. Not the most recent time. He became a self pay patient and, with each visit Dr. Shappley would comment "don't want to break the bank." I would have preferred to hear encouraging news regarding my son's health. Dr. Shappley became a less caring doctor and just rushed through the needed procedure. My son is still in pain....he still has 2 stones....which Dr. Shappley said shouldn't be hurting him.................
just last week had dr rusty remove my kidney stone. he was upfront explained everything , 2 surgeries , one to place stent , then 12 days later to remove stone and stent, at no time did pain go over a one.i was pretty nervous but he is just straight forward. see him next week to follow up and see what we can do to prevent another not a lot of waiting , his nurse called to check on me , easy appointments , highly recommend
Rusty is awesome. I am very thankful to have him as my urologist.
Recommend surgery right away. If I had money I would have had another option. After learning more about a spermatocele, I see I didn't need surgery because it was small with no pain! I never should have had surgery!!! I would never recommend him. I feel he took advantage of me being nervous. Easy money for him to pay for his Ferrari collection he was telling me about... Total joke!!!!!!!!
He did a urethral sling on my body at the same time as my hysterectomy by another doctor. Four months later and I am still in pain. Vaginal intercourse is horrible & painful. It feels as though a metal bristle brush is trying to come out of my urethra & my rectum hurts. I also have horrible leaky gas and stomach pains. Rusty told me he could remove my sling a few months after my initial implant. Liar! I find out in pre-op he just removes the bit around the urethra, not the entire thing! I left!
Do not get a urethral sling from Dr Shappley, III. As a female, vaginal sex will hurt your urethra and rectum. He will do what he can to not remove it. Found out in pre-op for removal that he only removes a portion of it. Opted to walk out of it instead. Now having a hard time finding a surgeon who removes it all. There's only a dozen at best in the world who can successfully and completely remove all mesh, the sling and the anchors. The closest one is in St Louis and I am having the most difficult time getting my insurance to approve him even though he takes my insurance. Do not trust Shappley or his gynecologist buddy Dr Rye Estepp. She encouraged me to go to him specifically for the urethral sling.
Very pleasant and knowledgeable. Spells out all options in treatment and follows your decision. Not sugar coated, but also done with a great level of care. Highly recommended. Great staff as well.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
