I came to Ascension St. Thomas Hospital on April 15, 2022, with severe pain in my lower right abdomen. It was determined my appendix was highly inflamed and needed to immediately be removed. Dr. Akins did an outstanding job of informing what the current situation was, what to expected prior to the surgery and the recovery process. He has a "mellow" bedside manner. I strongly recommend Dr. Akins!!!

The doctor was very professional. He answered all my questions and the operation went great.I had a hernia operation years ago and itdid not go well. This one went great and lonelyneeded the pain killers for one day after.I highly recommend him for surgery. Thank you for your help Dr.Akins.

Dr. Akins removed my gallbladder due to complications with gallstones. He was very professional, friendly and made sure that my wife and I understand the proceed. While no one wants to have surgery, if necessary, I would definitely recommend Dr. Akins.

Dr Akins and his staff are very professional. I went to see him about a Umbilical Hernia. Recommended surgery. Had my surgery at St. Thomas Ambulatory Surgical Center. The entire staff there was amazing and took excellent care of me. Would highly recommend Dr. Akins and his team for any general surgery needs

In 2005 i was diagnosec withbreast cancer. He dis a biopsy and puntured a vien...it hurt so bad I thought I would pass out. He took out the lesion in my breast and 21 lymph nodes. He wanted me to get chemo and radiation. I went for consultation but decided to not get chemo and radiation. I stoped eating processed foods and sugar. When I went back for 6 week checkup he got really mad that I didnt get the chemo/rad. He yelled so loud the ppl in waiting room could hear him. I thought he acted wrong. My body my decision. He is good surgeon but bad personality
