List of Aleta Simmons's Reviews
I have been going to Aleta for a year now and only seen her a few times I can count on my hands. She is always out of the office and you can’t get an appointment with her until 6months out. You cannot build a relationship with her. She is very nonchalant and dry. I have had eczema since a young girl and I wanted to try a black dermatologist because I thought they would help me and understand my skin more. I have eczema on my face. I have used fluocinolone acetonide oil for years but, I was told that it is a steroid and it can have long term affect on my skin in the long run. Aleta switched me over to Tacrolimus which is a generic cream but it makes my face very hot. I feel that I shouldn’t have to live my life like that. I expressed to Aleta multiple times about wanting to get off of Tacrolimus but, she won’t take me off and she keeps ignoring me she told me. If I was a dermatologist I would say I understand how you feel and we are going to try everything until we find something that works for you. I am very insecure about my face especially when it breaks out because my skin can be very clear and it was very clear I had no issues using my topical oil and I regret everyday that I stopped using it. Aleta doesn’t show much care at all when visiting her in the office.
Dr. Simmons is very thorough. If you come prepared with a list of your concerns, she will address each one and analyze it thoroughly if she has any concerns or wants to be 100% sure there is no issue. For your areas of concern that she knows are benign, she will explain exactly what it is so you don’t have to worry about it anymore. She will also educate you on areas to keep watching based on statistical data of how cancers manifest in certain demographics. She is in HIGH demand as she may be the only African American dermatologist in Nashville. I only had to wait 5 minutes at most upon arrival to the office, which is rare in most doctors offices. Efficiency comes at a price. If you require more hand-holding or relationship building, you may not appreciate her efficiency. If you are efficient and prepared with your list of concerns, you’ll love her.
Waited for about eight months for an appt, then a few weeks before my appt in January received a call that she would be out the office. They wanted to put me with someone else, but I wanted someone that could relate to my hair. When I called back the following month to see what was available if she was back, they said she is now not taking new patients. This is so unprofessional
I made an appointment with Dr. Simmons but couldn’t get my daughter in for months. I went ahead and scheduled because I wanted her to see an African American female dermatologist who understood my daughter’s hair texture. A few months after making the appointment, someone from her office called to reschedule to another date, pushing the appointment even further out, saying “Dr Simmons won’t be in the office that day.” Again, I decided to keep the rescheduled appointment. Now today, in the middle of December and a month and a half from finally getting to see Dr. Simmons, I got a call from her office, saying “Dr Simmons needs to cancel because she won’t be in the office that day. Would you like to reschedule?” Absolutely not! After waiting months and getting the run-around, I declined. I’ll take my daughter to someone more available and dependable!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
