Excellent doctor! Listened carefully and respectfully as I outlined my symptoms and then he quickly and correctly diagnosed. Dr. McVie is concise, direct, and clear in his communication. This was the absolute best interaction I have ever had with an ER doctor in my life (and considering I have also taken close family members over the years to the ER that is at least ten).

When he asked to hear my story, I was so grateful. He listened, he explained his reasoning for his tests and possible diagnoses. He was respectful, and I have never been more impressed with an ER doctor.

Dr. McVie is the very definition of a physician. He is incredibly competent, and a great communicator with superior people skills. His calm honesty literally got me to reconsider checking myself out of the ER, convinced me I should wait for the results of one more test and the case can be made that he may have literally saved my life. Physicians of this caliber are rare especially in an emergency room setting and Dr McVie is an invaluable asset to St. Thomas. Thanks, doc. You're the best!!

Dr. McVie is not one I specifically chose as I was and ER patient and you get who you get. However, I am grateful to have been assigned Dr. McVie. Not only was his well attentive but also kind, relatable, and kept the spirits of the room up. He was noticeable honest and genuine. Unlike some ER doctors I have encountered before, he would come back into the room to assure me that I hadn't been forgotten about when waiting a while to be taken down to Ultrasound. Another HUGE plus I liked about this Doctor and hospital overall is that it's hospital policy at St. Thomas West that the attending Doctor doesn't leave till all of his/her patients' care are completed. You are never transferred to another doctor. Wonderful ER doctor and hospital overall. Highly recommend, and that's not something people usually do over hospital Emergency Rooms.
