Had gallbladder surgery here and had to stay the night The nurses were very kind and caring and supported me during recovery!!
My child has been here over a year. Goof up after goof up after goof up. No communication between teams. Doctors call and apologized twice as I recorded all calls for reference and they contradict each other. No clear coordination has gotten my daughter in a lot of trouble. Now they will not even return calls and have a consistently condescending attitude and tone. They know everything until it backfires. My advice record all conversations and calls. For simple cases this place may be ok, but for anything even the least complex I’d seek help elsewhere or it may not work out well. Feel free to reach out if you need specifics.
You know I had really high hopes for taking my daughter 2.5 hours away to visit the pediatric rheumatology department but I should have know when the doctor asked if we knew what she did... instead of asking my daughter how she felt. She made it all about her and what she "thought" and didn't review any of the labs prior to us getting there or while we were there. She had another set of labs ran and has not called to go over there. EVEN WITH THE LABS BEING ELEVATED more than the prior labs. She asked what type of labs were ran instead of getting the paperwork that was sent to her office prior to us getting there. Like how are we suppose to remember all of the labs that have been ran out of the month that my kid has been in pain. She could not and did not answer any of my questions. We left feeling defeated! Not by her but by the system!
Vanderbilt children’s failed my baby. We were sent there from Erlanger to get the opinions of what was supposed to be some of the best lung doctors. These doctors bearly even looked at my daughter the whole time we were there and only spoke to me once. They looked me in my face and told me she was fine and only need time to grow that she did NOT need a lung transplant. They never did the ct scan that my daughters doctors at Erlanger sent us there to have done and sent us on our way. She did in-fact need a transplant and was in lung failure if they would have just done the test we where sent there for and looked closer at her case she may have had a fighting chance at life. She was 8 month old, she was loved, she mattered.
One of the worst service I have seen here. If I could give less than one star, I would. I do understand doctors and nurses deal with a lot and it is not easy but some of the nurses here just don't care. They have don't care attitude. We waited for about 4 hours and still the only answer I got from the nurse was, "We don't know when the doctor will be in and we go by seriousness and priority. " . I told them but you have to give me some estimate. You can't tell me that you will keep pushing our case for 48 hours. We sat their for about 4 hours. We saw some of the kids, didn't look the case was that serious as they were playing (some looked serious but some didn't), were given priority even though came hours later than us. They accepted that we had been there for longest. Still not even a doctor was assigned. On top of that one of the nurse was soooo rude as if she owned Vanderbilt care hospital and she was god. So, finally we went back without seeing a doctor. They kept saying "We understand", but they really don't. My son had a cut in his eye (cornea) and if there was something complicated, the longer we wait the difficult it will become. So, fast forward 14 hours we still have not been able to see the doctor because the incompetency, mis-management and rude behavior of this hospital's nurses... I am so sorry people have to go thru such experiences...
Possibly one of the greediest and unethical hospitals I've ever worked with. They never call you and leave a VM as to why they call. You can make payments regularly and they still turn you over to collections before even speaking with you. It happens every time we are forced to go there for our kids. Parent's get slammed with having to take their child in all the time and the least you can do is not turn people over to collections just because you want your money with in 3 months. PURE GREED for a "non profit". Disgusting they only care about money not patient care.
Let me tell you just how disappointed I am with Vanderbilt today after they told me they were going to call the cops if I didn’t take the 2 kids out in the cold.
My daughter goes here well she too old now but the best in history amazing hospital they will take amazing care of u as well as I as your environmental Tech thanks
This was the best experience we could’ve ever asked for. My child went in for a surgery and the whole surgical team and nurses were phenomenal. They even brought their elf on the shelf back with them to the O.R. For some pictures.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
