List of Bassel Abou-Khalil's Reviews
He was my Dr. for many years with my epilepsy. We had tried all the medicines and nothing was working. After I'd had 25 yrs of seizure disorder; he suggested a temporal lobectomy surgery that was successful. After discussing it for a while, we did it. My life has never been the same since. That was about 23 yrs ago and to this day I have the utmost respect for this Dr. and the Neuro surgeon that did ...
Fantastic doctor! He knows everything there is to know about epilepsy and helps me out greatly. Nice dude too.
I've been going to Dr. Abou-Khalil for over 30 years I have recommended him to everyone I know he is the very best you won't find anyone better than him or Vanderbilt.
Dr Khalil has a gentle "bedside" manner allowing patients to feel at ease. I've been a patient of his for over twenty years and from day one, have felt like family. He works hard to get answers to complicated neurological issues and presents his patients with a variety of treatments which allows the patient to become active in their recovery. As in my case and my daughters, when there is no medical solution, Dr Khalil provides comfort and continues to search for new therapies on the horizon. I am forever grateful to this doctor and his team.
I am 33 yrs old now but in 06 I had brain surgery for my seizures. In two months it will be 15 yrs free with no meds took a lot of test and stuff before I was approve for the surgery. I can do things at the age of 33 I would have never thought of doing.....
Fantastic neurologist. Very caring and knowledgeable about epilepsy.
The absolute best epileptologist that I have ever seen
Amazing neurologist. I'm epileptic and have been on several different medications with my previous neurologist, none of which were preventing seizures. Even had a VNS put in. I was put on Depakote by Dr. Khalil and it helped but still didn't fully prevent them. He then put me on a combination of Depakote and Lamictal and I haven't had a seizure in over 2 years! Contrary to what another review says about him, he does care and I'm sorry that that person didn't get the same level of care that I've always personally gotten. He always takes the time to ask questions about how you've been doing, any changes to side effects, and suggests things that you can do outside of just taking meds to lessen the likelyhood of having a seizure. It was because of him suggesting I go see a sleep doctor that I found out I had sleep apnea. Had I not found that out, there's a good possibility I could still be having seizures due to sleep deprivation! Can't say enough good things about him.
My parents found Dr. Khalil for me because my epilepsy was so bad that I would have multiple seizures a day. I would fly from Florida to Memphis and drive 4 hours to see him for testing, visits, and surgeries. I had to be med flighted to Vanderbilt twice and he saved my life. As long as he is practicing, he will be my epileptologist. He does not allow insurance or the patients ability to pay get in the way of treating his patients. He is the best in the world and I say that as a patient and a nurse. Melisha Hammond
He is an excellent doctor very thorough and compassionate. I have been under his care for 21 years. I had my right temporal lobe removed in 1998 after thorough testing for complex seizures since birth.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
