List of Blakeford At Home's Reviews
Blakeford is a wonderful place to live. My parents moved to Blakeford in October, 2019. My father passed away in 2022 and my mother continues to thrive at Blakeford. The facility, the staff, the service, the community of residents, and the location are all first class. We love visiting and staying with my mom there, it is just a wonderful place to be.
We are starting a new life! No longer encumbered with ownership of a home, it is like a miracle to call maintenance or housekeeping and let it go. This is probably our last home, so we are allowed to make it as much "mine" (wall colors, sinks, counters, etc.) as you wish! The dining facilities are fine, and after raising a family with four boys, having someone put a delicious meal in front of you, and then...actually clean it up. These are all the external advantages, but the heart of Blakeford is its people - true community, fellowship, laughter and learning are the richest part of my new life that I embrace fully. It is the BEST place to watch the sunset of our lives.
Blakeford At Greenhills, Nashville My wife and I moved to Blakeford in May 2023, just before the new West Tower opened in July 2023. At the same time the existing North and South Towers were updated with carpeting, lighting and paint. What a great transformation. All the common areas are new. Amities include three restaurants, indoor pool, a state of the art fitness center (with three full time staff members) and a group fitness studio for many fitness classes. There are many club activities; art, bridge, canasta, rummy cube, Mexican train, mahjong, history club plus more. Every Tuesday there is a happy hour with food and live entertainment provided by Blakeford and one Sunday a month we have a Social Hour 5p to 6p where new residents mingle and meet current residents. You need to visit Blakeford and take a tour. Make sure you see Vista, the 7th floor party room and outdoor patio - - it has a view no other senior communities have. Mary and I have been asked why we chose Blakeford, and not one of the other senior living communities nearby. Most don't have Independent Living, Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing/Memory Care on one campus. But the final reason was when we met some of the residents of Blakeford. The residents and staff members are the best
I have been a Independent Living resident at Blakeford for over two years. It has been, and continues to be a wonderful personal experience. The people set this place apart as, the place for Nashville seniors. The friendly and accomodating staff, plus the resident community, afford an opportunity to interact with pleasant and most interesting friends. I am personally glad to live here; it's home.
My husband and i have lived at Blakeford for three years after moving here from Indiana in order to be closer to our son and family. In that time we have truly found a wonderful community of friendly people and caring staff. We take part in many fitness activities and the fitness staff can't be beat....they are highly qualified and the classes they lead are very popular. In addition, we make use of the tecno-gym where we can use our key fob in machines that are programmed specifically to our needs. Staff is often on hand to update any programming of the machines that we feel is necessary. An aquatics director offers numerous classes in our beautiful pool which is open for individual use when classes are not in session. Our monthly water volleyball game between staff members and residents is a big hit as residents come to cheer on their neighbors who play. Both of us are dealing with some physical issues and cannot get around Nashville a lot, but Blakeford has so much to do here, that we feel very content. Activities include Tuesday happy hour and entertainment, guest speakers, musical guest performances, movies, weekly men's group and women's groups, opportunities to play a variety of games, outings to restaurants and local entertainment, to name a few. One reason to choose Blakeford as a place to live is that there are so many people here who have lived most of their lives in Nashville and they found Blakeford to be the correct choice for them as they looked for a senior community. I would have thought that we might feel like outsiders since we did not have that background, but our experience proved otherwise. Everyone here, staff included, is so welcoming and we feel right at home. Blakeford offers everything we need going forward as it has assisted living, memory care and a skilled health facility......all under roof! I need physical therapy and I can get all that here in our lovely new physical therapy gym. We also appreciate rides that Blakeford provides us to doctor appointments. Independent living residents elect resident nominees to a resident council annually. I have had the privilege to serve on that board. We meet monthly with Blakeford management to discuss residents' concerns and suggestions. Then we meet with residents to share what we learn. Residents serve on committees that work to make our living space a greener space, to help with the dining committee, to create spaces to share resident art work, and many other projects that residents may think of. This is a busy place! We eat well, we are supported by a very caring staff, and we have made such good friends here. Who could ask for anything more?
My wife and I could not be happier with our decision to move to the Blakeford. The facility and its amenities are outstanding. As native Nashvillians we planned to maintain our normal outside activities after our move. However, the programs and activities made available by the very helpful staff make it hard to decide whether to “stay in or go out.” This makes for a very pleasant dilemma in retirement.
Iive been at Blakeford for close to four years, and it was the best choice for me. I loved my home, but it was lonely, and I couldn't keep up with repairs. Here I have friends and activities! I enjoy life more, and know that I will be taken care of, if needed.
My husband and I moved to Blakeford Independent Living in April, 2021. We are now 85 plus and so very happy we made this move when we did. I love not having to plan meals, cook meals, and clean up after meals. Lots of choices here regarding food selection, with a different fresh catch every day! For me the pool and wellness center are especially appreciated. The treadmill in the pool has been great.
I have resided in independent living for over 5 years and not one day have I regretted the move here. After being at Blakeford for two years, my husband had a stroke and was in Woodcrest for 6 months. I could visit him daily without having to leave the building. Moving to Blakeford was great for us and a gift we gave our children. They won't have to empty a house full of family items and know our care will be handled professionally by Blakeford whatever the need.
My 80 year old mother has been at The Blakeford for 6ish years. She adores it. Says it is “the people” who make it what it is. She means staff and clientele. Also beautiful interior and food is often incredibly good. Especially for the pricing. Why I’m reviewing today: Mom was very unwell today. I was out of town. My brother out-of-pocket for a couple of hours, so neither of us could get to her. Called the front desk. Got Stacey on the phone (who we know well and who is always an angel and so helpful in every way). Described to Stacey what was going on. Wanted a health aide or someone to go check on her. Stacey had a better option: she had a healthcare worker from the on-side Vandy clinic go to mom’s independent living apartment. He took her to the Vandy clinic. They called me and we were able to figure out best next steps. I didn’t even know a Vandy clinic was available (is located in the other branches of The Blakeford’s buildings—not IL). Mom was able to stay home and not make an unnecessary trip to the ER or an almost-logistically impossible visit to her primary care doc. Big, BIG kudos to Stacey. And to Alicia and James from the Vandy clinic staff. Between the three of them, my mother is safe and secure in her home and now with my brother. Without an ER trip. Without trying to move small mountains to get her to her PCP. Thank you, Stacey, James and Alecia. Our family is so grateful to you and the entire Blakeford staff. (And big, BIG shoutout to Sherry who has worked in the hospitality and kitchen side for many years now—she’s been one of my mom’s, my and our family’s special angels for years now 💛) Final shoutout to supervisor/chef Jean in the kitchen—always so incredibly helpfu and friendly when I see her at Sunday brunch. Just a delightful human from our brief visit is. And the omelette, pancakes and waffles she does to order for the Sunday brunch are just amazing. And her veggie soup/stew this past Sunday exactly what my and my mom’s body needed. Please pass our deep gratitude to each of them 🙏

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
