Dana S Thompson's Online Review Report Card

This physician may be an excellent surgeon. I do not have any experience with that end of things. What I do know is that he was assigned to my relative when she was in the hospital. While making rounds in the hospital, we were satisfied with his interactions. Patient stayed in the hospital for 9 days, with multiple tests, scans, biopsies. Dr. Thompson told us that he would contact us with the results of her final biopsy once she was at home. He never contacted us. I contacted his office multiple times, and could get no information. We were left for 10 days with no idea of diagnosis or prognosis or treatment options, with the patient disoriented and in pain.I find this cruel and unacceptable, but apparently it is logical for this office.

My son was being treated by Dr.Thompson and my son was not happy at all with his bedside manner orthe treatment he received from. Dr. Thompson and his physician assistant (the most arrogant man we have ever met and we reported him to Dr. Thompson many times, my son refused to allow him to enter his treatment room after the physician assistant made a joke about cutting into my son's brain and we certainly didn't see the humor, would you have). My son passed away February 14, 2021 and 6 days prior to his passing Dr.Thompson had the nerve to be upset because my son would not agree to start chemotherapy and clearly he was in no shape to even consider chemotherapy. My son could not walk, eat, or control his bowel or urine so why would this uncaring doctor who never gave my son answers to what was causing him to have seizures and fall hurting himself continually even suggest it the day he went into Hospice care 6 days before he passed away. I would NEVER recommend this doctor to anyone you care about and love.!!!!!

Dr. Thompson seems to always be in a BIG hurry and does not want to spend time with you to answer your questions.

Dr. Thompson is a phenomenal doctor. There is nothing negative to say about him. You will be in excellent hands with his care!

Dr. Thompson is a great guy, but for some reason he didn't test to find out what mutation of tumor I had before he prescribed me Chemo. I didn't realize that it's standard protocol to test for the mutation. This is the first time I've ever had to deal with this type of tumor (GIST) so I'm uninformed like most other people. I trusted that he was providing the best care possible for me. 1 1/2 years into taking 1 pill of Gleevec a day, I had to have another surgery removing 4 tumors in my abdominal area. After my surgery, I found out that they left a 5mm tumor in me. Fed up and Angry, I went to Vanderbilt for a second opinion. Right off the bat, they asked me what type of mutation I had. I had no clue. The first thing they did was test the mutation of the tumors they just took out. Dr. Thompson was treating me for an Exon 11 mutation for a year and a half when I actually had the Exon 9 mutation, which doesn't react to 1 pill of Gleevec at all. This was frustrating to me, knowing that I had been taking chemo for a year and a half and it wasn't even doing anything. I have severed ties with Dr. Thompson and I am at Vanderbilt now. They prescribed me 2 pills a day of Gleevec and it's reacting with the tumor they left in me after my last surgery! It's amazing what happens when you take the proper dose. I might not of had to have a 2nd surgery if I was prescribed 2 pills a day from the get go.

I went to visit Dr. Dana Thompson a few times in the past and I honestly cannot complain. He is a caring doctor and always provides and goes over test results on the same day of your visit. I recently started going to Summit in Hermitage for a few procedures and, I have to say, I’ve never felt so abandoned by a doctor AND nurse. I got a CT done today and I requested my test results to be sent to Dana Thompson because I know I’m in good hands with him. The only issue is, I have to get my irresponsible, careless doctor to sign over my records. That’s going to take forever. I’m going to stick with Dr. Dana Thompson.

Dr. Dana Thompson is a superlative doctor if and when you get to see him after you make appointments and arrive at his office. The people at the front desk are rude. I have waited to see Dr. Thompson or his assistant for one hour past my appointment on three occasions. I left the office after waiting one hour on the last visit when I was informed there were still three patients ahead of me. All of the staff I talked with told me things were disastrous around the office all the time.

I've been a patient of Dr Thompson's since early 2013 when diagnosed with cancer. He suggested both chemo & radiation together and those treatments took care of it. He is very dedicated with follow up and since has found cancer in each of my lungs at early stages and wasted no time referring me to the appropriate surgeons to also take care of it. He is very smart and at the top of his game at what he does. I would recommend him to anyone. Tips my hat to him and his staff. Thank you Dr Thompson.

A very intelligent and caring doctor with a great bedside manner who truly cares for his patients. He listens to their needs and concerns and responds and explains things in detail...couldn't ask for a better doctor or team of caregivers to have on your side...I consider him/them a true blessing
