I can't believe I have not reviewed Dr. Kaplan yet; she is awesome! She has been my rhuemy for two years now and she is hands-down in my top three of best doctors I've seen in my life (probably #1, but it is hard to say because she keeps me out of pain so I am super biased).Dr. Kaplan was the last in a long line of specialists and misdiagnoses after a year of frustration and pain so bad that I was bed bound with it by the time I got in to see her. She got my diagnosis right on the first visit and has kept my pain absent to bearable for the last two years. She is very thorough; she does a physical exam on all of my joints at every appointment, she keeps excellent notes and follows up on them at every visit, and she is very responsive if you need to message her on the Vanderbilt portal. It is a shame to say, but getting a thorough physical exam from any doctor these days is a rarity in my experience. I feel super lucky to have found her, especially when I read stories about how people are treated (or not!) by their rheumatologists.The only drawback is the money, but the crappy American healthcare system is not Dr. Kaplan's fault. I have pretty good insurance and still pay around $400 out of pocket for each visit until I hit my deductible. If I recall correctly, my initial eval was around $800 so be prepared.Oh, her office staff, the lab staff and her nurse Kat are also great!

I have been a patient of Dr. Kaplan’s for 10+ years. She has superior bedside manners. She always listens attentively to my complaints/concerns and documents everything. She is very knowledgeable and personable. She has never seemed rushed during my appointment. She has always been available, after hours, for medicine needs. I feel very blessed to be her patient!

After two years of trying to get a definitive diagnosis for my daughter, our PC doctor referred us to Dr. Kaplan. FINALLY we have some answers and feel like we are on the right path to getting the treatment my daughter needs. Dr. Kaplan spent almost an hour with us and literally took notes of everything we told her. She ordered tests and my daughter received an answer from Dr. Kaplan herself within 48 hours of the tests. Thank you Dr. Kaplan!

I have seen Dr. Kaplan for three years. My health issue is a minor one that needs minimal management but it doesn't matter - she always spends a lot of time going over my labs, discussing how I have been feeling, what her thoughts are, etc. I never feel rushed. She is very nice. I always leave feeling confident in what she recommends. I recommended her to a family member.

I was extremely disappointed in Dr. Kaplan. I waited 5 months to get in to see her given her high rating on healthgrades.com. I had been given a diagnosis of scleroderma and was advised to see a rheumatologist. She performed an RA test on. A few days later, she had one of her assistants call me and told me that I did not have an autoimmune disorder. I asked what I should do next, but I never heard from Dr. Kaplan again. I still do not know what is ruining my life.

Dr Kaplan is a warm and caring person. A Doctor with a great wealth of knowledge. Easy to talk with as she listens to you and discusses your heath concerns with you, not at you. As someone who comes from a family of doctors I can say that she is among the best I have ever met.
