I went to the residential treatment center for a month summer of 2021. This review is about that time period, if things have changed I wouldn't know. While I did walk away from treatment with a better understanding of myself and was able to overcome difficulties I found it poorly run for how expensive it was. - While I was there there was another women in treatment who was incredibly disruptive towards everyone's healing. She was eventually kicked out, but the staff kept wanting us, the other residents, to basically confront her in group therapy to try to improve things. I don't think that was our responsibility especially when they were fully aware and everyone was complaining about this woman in their 1-1 therapy sessions. - You needed to adamantly advocate yourself to get all of the treatment sessions you were promised at the gate. In particular, number of therapy sessions per week - Their EDMR practices aren't done properly. They just throw you in with no preparation, ethically the client needs to be prepared with at least a few sessions with the practitioner before hand. - Instead of practicing a few kinds of theories, they practice about 15 different kinds of theories. Clearly, their strategy is to throw everything at you for something to stick. This did actually work for me as delving into Attachment Theory after the program was beneficial, but my trauma was not that complex. - My biggest gripe is the air conditioning wasn't working in the Yurt for the first couple weeks I was there. I advocated for this SO hard. We were paying 10K and couldn't have a working air conditioner? It felt like they didn't take our complaints seriously. There was no rush to fix it and if anything the first couple times they tried to fix it they decided nothing was wrong. They eventually replaced the unit if I can recall correctly. On the plus side, the property is very beautiful and was a great location to heal. I liked some of the therapies a lot, some I didn't find as effective. I was a changed and better person coming out of it, along with some additional therapy I did when I got home.
What a nightmare this place is. If you’re black I highly recommend looking else where. My first week I experienced lots of bullying. Lots of racists jokes were said by a few clients. During my second week, i got prescribed a medication that made me so sick to the point I was on the floor in a ball. I went to the ER 3 times and I later found out through few residents and an RA staff member that nobody believed I was sick despite me throwing up non stop and being FORCED to show them my vomit. I was still forced to go to groups despite having 3 Doctors Notes saying I was ill. When I brought that up The Day RA staff said they had no clue what I was talking about when the Night Staff also specifically told them I could sit out. I felt very targeted. I’m sadden to write this review because I was blessed with a grant to come here for my recovery! I highly suggest looking else where. :/
Can’t say enough great things about ILC. A close relative attended Residential and PHP, and it was a game-changer for him. From the very proactive and caring staff (Admissions to Case Managers to Therapists, especially Greg, Liz, Lindsay, Cheryl, Dave, Declan) to the top-notch experiential therapy to the compassion and caring of fellow patients, my relative gained so much from attending ILC - quite frankly, I believe it saved his life. Thank you so much ILC family - will always remember and be grateful for your compassion, experience, expertise and support.
ILC has employees that truly care about the clients that come here. My experience there was nothing but positive, and it always felt like a place of love and healing. They really know what compassionate care is!
I went to both the residential program and the outpatient program (PHP and IOP) here, and while i personally had a great experience in residential, the moment i got into PHP i saw a VASTLY different experience. In PHP, there were people overdosing and leaving the house to get drugs, the medication was completely mismanaged, the therapists were really bad and clearly inexperienced (with the exception of maybe 1), and not to mention i had two friends who complained about the horrific mismanagement and malpractice and they got KICKED OUT of the program and essentially tossed on the street with no housing or help in the middle of Nashville where they do not live. Overall PHP was a scary place lol. In terms of residential (the women's Morningstar houses), I had a much better experience with an amazing therapist (who doesn't work there anymore lol) and my house was full of people I still talk to today because we bonded so much but there were still lots of cons at residential: medication mismanagement, inexperienced caseworkers, staff changeovers causing people's treatment to be delayed and messed up, safety issues and staff being unable to handle meltdowns in group settings that were very triggering to the rest of the group, and i could probably think of more. I want to leave a good review because I personally had a good time at residential but I think that was because of the beautiful house and nature, and my friends there. The things I saw other people go through make it so i cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone else.

No treatment center will ever be perfect and there will always be things that one can find to criticize or complain about because providing care in a treatment setting that's PERFECTLY tailored for each individual is literally impossible. But ILC rises to this challenge as best they can. I have been out of treatment for 3 plus years now and I still see the general practitioner I met while under their care and the same therapist (though she now works at NCCC and not ILC). There were many employees of ILC that truly made lasting impressions on me and cracked my heart wide open in the best of ways. When I got to ILC I was really only showing up there because I felt I didn't have any other option....it wasn't because sobriety or healing were things I was actively pursuing or even felt capable of if I am being honest. But somehow over a few months in residential, followed by a couple months in PHP then IOP (which I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend to anyone debating whether to go through all stages of the step down process once "graduating" from redidential) sobriety and healing became priorities, goals, and eventually accomplishments/lifestyles I was committed to. I know for me, I will have to continue to trust the process, do the work, continue to adapt and grow when things stall out or I feel myself tempted to slide back into old comfortable patterns, toxic as they may be...probably for the rest of my life. But ILC provided me with the community (both with specific people that have become incredibly dear to me personally or instrumental in my care provider wise) but also with the tools to and contacts to continue walking the path of recovery and never feel like I have to do it alone.
My experience at ILC was nothing short of life changing. I was in the PHP program about 2.5 yrs ago after a 30 day in patient elswhere. The focus on parts work was so revealing for me, and is very relevant in my current recovery practices. My emotional regulation through breathwork was also a breakthrough. I continue using these and many other practices that the kind compasioante folks like Gregory at ILC showed me. Like any type of treatment, I got alot out of it, but i also put alot into it. I think anyone who walks into ILC with an open mind, and open heart, and is willing to do some work on themselves will get more than they imagined they could out of it!!
I was in ILC for a few months and I never thought I’d be saying that I had a good experience in treatment. The staff were amazing and created a safe environment for me to open up for the first time ever which then led into the start of my healing journey (although at the time i didn’t know it). Highly recommended ILC to literally anyone seeking out treatment!
My experience at ILC helped me build a lasting foundation of recovery that has saved my life and allowed me to build a compassionate relationship with myself that continues to grow to this day. I learned here how to understand and appreciate my thoughts and emotions. I made friendships that, to this day, set the example for what it means to be open and honest with myself and with others. Without the guidance and support I received ILC, I would not be the person I am proud to be today.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
