J W Thomas Byrd's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Byrd and all of his staff are wonderful! I would highly recommend Dr. Byrd! He is very thorough and he cares about his patients. Just a very pleasant experience!!!

Unfortunately Dr. Byrd misdiagnosed me (his nurse even refuted his findings from my CT scan he told me in person) and I was given no explanation. He also advised he would contact another doctor I’m seeing regarding my case, which never happened even after multiple follow ups with his staff. Very disappointed considering he supposedly has the reputation of being one of the best in the field. Not worth traveling to see him.

I travel 5 hours to have Dr. Byrd as my surgeon. He repaired my right hip in Aug of 2022 and will be repairing my left hip in 2023. He’s knowledgeable, good bedside manner, and honest. His staff are a blessing and have the surgical routine down to a science making it stress free for patience who travel in from out of town. Because I think it may help potential patients make a decision, I want to add that I am a 47 year old female that participates in competitive obstacle course races. Dr. Byrd has been thorough and honest about what to expect. The recovery from surgery one has gone far better than I expected. I hope the same for surgery two. Either way, I wouldn’t trust anyone else. If there’s a chance I will run again, he’s the surgeon to get me there.

I've never been more impressed by a physician than I was with Dr.Byrd. He saw my husband recently for a labrum issue and hip impingement. He is confident in his skill set and totally set us at ease. Everyone from Dr. Byrd, the physical therapist, the reception staff was nothing but kind. His nurse Kay is also fantastic! My husband is now two weeks post op and completely pain free. We couldnt have asked for a better experience!

I had a crushed hip from a horse accident- no one on the west coast would touch me...Dr Byrd scheduled me in , but put me in the wait que- a week later he got me in ahead of my planned surgery- All the team,clear through PT, was superb! I healed fully and went back to starting colts and skiing... that was 12 years ago! No long term permanent problems.

Dr. Byrd and his entire staff are amazing- amazingly kind, knowledgeable, professional and compassionate. From the moment I reached out to the Nashville Hip Institute for help, it has been a positive experience, I was made to feel as if I was their most important patient. I live 6 hours from Nashville, every logistical aspect was seamless and well thought out on their part. Dr. Byrd is the expert in his field, there was no rush to surgery, conservative methods were attempted and then Dr. Byrd thoroughly discussed my options and surgical expectations. He patiently listens and answers questions. Every visit was with Dr. Byrd- not a PA, as is common in most orthopedic practices. Dr. Byrd is everything one hopes for from their surgeon, I highly recommend him and the Nashville Hip Institute.

I contacted Dr. Byrd due to my hip problem, Instead of taking my case into consideration he recommended me Dr. Deinst who is located in Germany.Then I had hip arthroscopy with the german doctor, Since then I have worse hip pain follow procedure.I Dont recommend.

I want to thank Dr. Byrd for wonderful treatment through my daughter and my own hip surgery this past summer. He takes his time to assess us both each visit. He thoroughly evaluated each of us before deciding surgery was necessary. I appreciate his expert advise and care throughout this process. We are very blessed to have been referred to him!
