I drove over 2 hours for this appt bcz there is not an endocrinologist in the area I live in and waited a month for an appt. It took more time filling out the paperwork and then sitting through the nurse inputting it all then the time I spent with the doctor. He was very cold and curt. He told me i had hashimotos disease, handed me a paper on it, and went over thyroid education that I already knew given that I have had thyroid issues 20 + years. He gave me an order to get my thyroid levels retested and that was it. Very impersonal and uncaring. I thought going to a specialist might help me gain more education and give me ideas on different things to do since recently I have had more trouble with my thyroid levels fluctuating and not feeling well. The friend accompanied me was stunned as well. I left very upset and disappointed. He scoffed at some of the tests that were ordered by my primary care physician even though I was making the effort through MyChart online to share with him results and such from recent lab work. My appt was last week, I immediately had my blood work done and I still haven’t heard back regarding what the recommendation of Dr Carlsons was based on new labs.

Dr. Carlson, took time to explain everything to me that other endos never have time for. He helped me fully understand my diagnosis and was not hesitant to listen and run the blood work necessary to help answer any more questions. The office staff were also very friendly and helpful!
