List of Vanderbilt Weight Loss Center's Reviews
Showed up for my in person appointment after confirming via automatic message. They had changed it to a telehealth one hour before my appointment via text, no phone call. Left and locked the door. No one called.Operator for Vanderbilt told me to check back in the morning. Treating new patients like this is trash. Appointments was scheduled with Dr. Christopher Northup Joe MD.
I went in a year ago 11/20/23. I had a removal/ revision and 2 hernia repairs with massive amounts of scar tissue. I went through a 5 1/2 hour surgery. I was discharged after less than 12 hours observation. I was given 3 days of pain meds. I had a 3 hour drive home and was given no pain meds to make the drive. I had to use the 3 day script they gave me. After one week I had a knot to emerge that was red and painful. I ran a fever. I called and talked to the on call doctor and he told me to go to my ER or get an ambulance to bring me to the clinic? I asked if he would call me in something for pain and I would get my husband to drive me 3 hours to see them in Nashville. He said no…. Do not use this clinic. The after care is the worst ever….. oh btw I had an infection and needed more care which I had to get elsewhere. They showed no interest in my complication post op
I had weight loss surgery in 2012. It was a tough decision at first. After having my first appointment with my doctor, I was very confident in moving forward. My original weight was around 246. I was miserable and on the ledge of being a full blown diabetic. The doc was very honest and straightforward with me. We both were on a mission to make a better life for me. It's been 12 years and I kept my end of the deal. I've kept my weight down and my doc would be proud of me. I am a success not just for me but for my family. Thank you Doctor Clements you are greatly missed. APRN, Cynthia Blalock you are one of my favorites. You have always been kind and so supportive. Thank you... 156 lbs is way better.
this place is the worst, and if you can find help *anywhere else*, do it. They seem like they’re taking in way more patients than they can safely support. You won’t have the same provider more than once, providers are late to appts and seem very overwhelmed and nobody will ever call you back. Or at least not in time to help.
Issue was finally resolved after months of waiting. They were billing the wrong insurance company even though they had photos of my insurance cards. I still recommend you avoid Lisa Jackson LCSW at this clinic unless you want to get billed $350 for an out of network bill incorrectly. They tried to charge me $600. After claim was filed correctly I owed $30 which resulted in a credit as I paid $50 at the initial appt. Apparently they can't bill the correct insurance company the first time and take months to correct their errors. Supervisor in billing was no help s and don't bother reaching out to patient relations. This clinics billing dept apparently can't file an insurance claim correctly and is not worth the stress of trying to explain it to them. They only fixed the issue when I filed a new claim on my own.
I have good insurance but they scheduled appointments that are not covered by insurance with no warning with exorbitant fees. I should have trusted all those 1* reviews. They do not care about patients best interests or provide any transparency. It is all about greed and is unethical.
I came to Vanderbilt Weight Loss Center in June and saw Dr.Broucek and he was very nice and explained everything to me about the Gastric Sleeve and his nurse Jennifer Owen was very sweet and listened to me and my concerns.
Made an appointment with Dr. Gatas just to talk about my options and see if I could get any financial help since my insurance pays for 0%. I had a rude lady named Annabelle call me and wouldn’t let me even get a word in. Stated my insurance doesn’t cover anything, which I already knew, and then just talked over me and stated it would be almost $600 just for this initial appointment. I said I guess I will have to cancel then because I don’t have $600 just laying around and she cut me off again and in a very suddenly happy tone said “ok I’ll cancel it” and hung up on me. I’m surprised Vanderbilt hires people who speak rudely and offer no compassion to someone who clearly is in a stressful situation. Will never look into going to do anything with them again.
I have been trying to get Rx for almost a month now , it has been preapproved But the wt loss clinic takes forever, too many people to go through , I feel sad about this , it’s been about a month now been to Pharmacy 3 times and they faxed everything to the Dr no answer yet.
Very friendly employees, very caring, and punctual!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
