Since 2012, Dr. William Shell has treated my wife and me several times for knee injuries. He lives up to his reputation for patience and kindness in determining the best course of action for treatment, never rushing into a surgical procedure if it can be avoided. Dr. Shell is personable and always leaves us feeling like he gave freely of his time during office visits. He makes himself available and encourages contact, if needed. He has wonderful support from his Nurse, Staci Biggs, be it in person or by phone. We find Dr. Shell to be a top-notch professional, a skilled surgeon, and a man of fine character. We would wholeheartedly recommend him to friends and loved ones.

I was very impressed with Dr. Shell. He explained everything to me about a TKR. I had several questions which he answered to my satisfaction, and when asked his opinion, he was very straightforward with what he thought. His demeanor made me feel very comfortable about my medical needs, and future surgery. Highly recommend! His nurse, and the rest of the office staff where very pleasant also!

My visit for knee issues went extremely well. Dr. Shell is very personable with excellent “bedside” manners. I know several people who’ve had knee/hip surgeries and highly recommended him. He fixes previous surgeries gone wrong.

Dr Shell and his staff at TOA have been amazing. I've been searching for an orthopedic surgeon to replace my knees for several years. Dr Shell took the time to listen to my case and concerns, then helped my husband and I formulate a plan of action. My right knee was replaced in November 2021. I'm able to do things I haven't done in years, thanks to Dr Shell, his staff, and my new knee joint. I'm looking forward to having my left knee replaced sometime this year. I would highly recommend TOA, Dr Shell, and his staff to family, friends, and complete strangers.

I can’t think Dr. shower now for my last and final hip replacement. The operation performed on December 7 far exceeded my expectations. Dr. Shell has truly made me feel 20 years younger and he has some very wonderful people working with him and have made this journey truly amazing.It begins with Staci in the Cookeville office and continues on with the hospital staff, wonderful nurses have shared their talent compassion and delightful personalities, made the surgery truly amazing. Thanks to Dr. Shell I feel as though he has made me a brand new man.
