Garrett Lischer's Online Review Report Card

I feel incredibly sorry all the elderly patients under this doctor's care. My experience with him left me feeling like he's scamming and I truly believe he has patients that are being treated for the wrong problem or problems they don't even have. Had this doctor listened to me or even did his own work instead of relying on a different doctor's lab work from MONTHS prior, I would not have had to go through an uncomfortable procedure and could have been healthier much sooner. I consistently insisted I had a UTI. Not once did he do a urinalysis before insisting I needed a cystoscopy. Our initial appointment he prescribed a $500 medication my insurance did not cover. When the pharmacist called to see if he could do something else, he prescribed a $5 OTC medication. (Super sketch.) It took over a month for them to schedule the procedure and they simply schedule without talking to the patient. Thankfully the billing department called to discuss payment so I had time to arrange time off work with a small amount of notice. She was even nice enough to give me the address. At the appointment, they took a urine sample but did not test it. When I questioned this, the nurse said they used the results from when I was in his office last, I had never been to his office. Surprised, she had to go ask the doctor. He chose to rely on a test ran by my PCP months prior. After the procedure, he told me everything looked fine but now that meant trying different things that may or may not work including a surgery. I insisted I had a UTI and just needed a dose of antibiotics. He told me he was not "going to throw antibiotics" at me and given how severe this issue was impacting my daily life (its not, I'm minorly inconvenienced), we needed to go ahead and schedule a surgery. I asked them to do their own urinalysis, but my original sample had spilled so they asked me for another one from after the procedure, which was filling my bladder up with saline. Most of my sample, if not all of it, would have been saline. Naturally that came back negative. Ironically, I ended up in urgent care for something completely unrelated and my urine sample came back positive for a UTI and that doctor ofcourse gave me a course of Antibiotics. Deeply dissatisfied my PCP recommended me to this Urologist. If you choose to use him, get a second opinion.

Dr Lischer was my urologist from 2017 till last year. I suffer from urethral stricture disease and was referred to a urologist specialist by Dr Lischer last September but appt. with specialist was not going to be available till December. By October I was having trouble voiding my bladder and called Dr. Lischer's office several times requesting to come in for an in office dilation to open me up. I have had that procedure several times with prior urologists. I was told Dr Lischer wanted me to come in for another outpatient procedure to open me up. He had already performed 2 of those on me which both failed. I explained to the nurse that I had moved 3 hours away and the outpatient procedure was not an option. I literally begged them to get me into the office and do a dilation. Next excuse was "Oh we do not keep those instruments here at the office". I told the person on the phone as kindly as possible I don't believe you. Dilation rods are a common urology tool and that we would like going to the dentist and them telling you they do not have dental floss. Needless to say Dr Lischer refused to get me in and I ended up in the ER at my local hospital because I could not void my bladder. I ended up having to have a suprapubic catheter put in which is a catheter that goes in through your stomach. I have since had urethalplasty surgery which should have been recommended by Dr Lischer back in 2017.

Dr. Lischer Is possibly, if not, the greatest Doctor I have ever met.

Dr. Lischer is neither a good listener or specialist. Over eight months & as many office visits, he never did a PSA or digital exam. One week prior to being diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer, he said, "You'll just have to live with self cathing your whole life! An immediate diagnosis was made with a thorough exam by a real specialist, even without a biopsy.

Dr. Lischer and staff were very professional, attentive, friendly, and courteous. The wait times were short. Appropriate time was spent discussing diagnosis and options. The communication was clear. My confidence level in this practice is high.

Dr. Lischer is an excellent Urologist as well as a friendly, respectful and caring person. All visits with him were characterized by open conversation. He is an excellent listener. Both office and hospital procedures demonstrated experience and skill. I highly recommend him

Dr. Lisher, MD. Is my Urologist. He is very interested in his patients & is easy to talk to & easy to understand. He has excellent speech. A caring DR.

Dr. Lischer and staff are professional, friendly, and courteous. The diagnosis was spot on, and the treatment options discussed were clear. I only waited about 10 minutes before seeing the MA and then less than 10 to see the doctor.

This Dr. was on call for my regular Urologist. I had to call the office twice to even get a call back. I had a stone removed on Wednesday and have had a large increase in pain since. Worse than when i had the stone. Ive been passing clots since surgery. On the info sheet it said to seek medical attention. He was very short unconcerned told me to double up on pain meds and I should be good. Just to wait it out. If I came to the ER they would just manage my pain. Maybe do a CT. Ive had hydronephritis for over a month. Someone interrupted our call 3 times. Then he said "Ma'am i think we've covered everything I need to go now." And hung up. Call was less than 2 minutes. I totally get there is not much you can do but you sure do not have to be a jerk. What happened to providing excellent care working for Covenant Health? The pledge? He was not my best choice and he did not provide me with excellent care. Oh yes these phone calls were made during the TN vs. AL game. It was interesting that he managed to call back after the game ended. So disappointed in this Dr.Sincerly, Greta S.
