Diversicare Of Smyrna's Online Review Report Card

I wouldn't take anyone there. It's terrible.

I currently work here and I have to say how awful this place is. The only reason they have staff is because of the pay. After covid pay ends, they will be hurting for employment. Management is terrible. Not understanding. They don’t care about their patients. They never come out of their office until state comes in then they all swarm around like they been doing something. In all my years of healthcare experience, I’ve never worked for a facility that worries more about their paycheck than the health of the resident. Do not put your loved ones here. Between the abusive staff, rodents running around the building, and the under trained employees, this is a death sentence for anyone. Please consider your options before choosing Diversicare.

My Mom was admitted into Diversicare of Smyrna of April 22 2021 and passed on May 3rd on hospice care from cancer.I'm not going to lie, previous reviews had me VERY skeptical going in and YES asthetics aren't exactly five star as it IS an old building... Let's be honest does that REALLY matter in the grand scheme of things?So I'll start by saying that the director James W. is a top notch man. I really appreciated how he handled an initial misunderstanding regarding the visitation policy. Classy, Professional and more importantly he showed a TON of empathy for what we were going through.Amy I. is the administrator who helped me along and even took the time to talk with me whenever I visited just because she cared enough to make sure we knew not only did they understand our pain but she made sure we never felt alone.... nor did we ever at any time feel like we were just a number on a spreadsheet.Nurse Aid Shaka was literally like a FAMILY member. She ( in my opinion ) went above and beyond to go over everything that was being done for my mother each day and took the time to listen to any concerns we had. She made sure we knew that when we weren't there, She was... I am so grateful for Shaka being the one ro be there for my mom. My mom deserved the best and she got it.All in all I can say that your mileage may vary but for me, The diversicare staff really did a great job considering covid restrictions and considering my mom's condition. I can't imagine how hard it is for them to do what they do.I will be forever grateful for how instrumental everyone there was in helping get my family and my mother through her final days.Forever grateful and blessedTom Golly

I DO NOT recommend this rehab facility. My mom was there for symptoms left over after having covid. Covid left her with no appetite & no taste. Several of the nurses harrassed her & we not caring or understanding with my mom. When I had her discharged the case worker did not even set up after care for her !Not a clean facility either, my moms bed was never changed. Very sad that you send a loved one to a facility to get help and they are treated badly !!

I will NEVER suggest this place to a single soul. Words can not describe the service and set up of this place. Absolutely absurd that they are still in business!! 0 stars 🌟

Very satisfied. We just want to say thank you to Diversicare of Smyrna for providing excellent care to our mom for the past 8 months. Throughout the quarantine, they have continued to provide the best healthcare making her stay there as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The therapists (OT/PT/Speech) are encouraging and find new and innovative ways to keep her engaged. When my mom would not eat, they kept trying til they found that she did better with finger foods, soup through a straw, etc. The healthcare workers and staff not only take care of their patients but understand the importance of the family’s need to stay connected with their loved ones. It has been tough on families through this pandemic of not being able to visit except through the window. There is no facility that is perfect. This is the best we have found. However, Diversicare helps as much as possible to allow for us to feel included. Thank you, Diversicare.~daughters~ Cristi and Lahri Gentry

Skip the middle man and pick out a casket if you send your loved ones here. Completely disorganized and uncaring staff.

When my sister went into hospice, I wasn't notified although I'm next of kin. She died without any family beside her. I'm heartbroken.

By far the worst nursing home I’ve known of. If you don’t enjoy helping others or caring for the elderly you SHOULD NOT work at a nursing home. Pain medication was not passed out. Patient wasn’t being fed properly and was practically starved. He has lost so much weight due to this and is so feeble. They didn’t even take the effort to bring water to him, leaving him dehydrated. A nurse even had the audacity to get an attitude and treat the patient badly by lifting his bed high up and leaving him there. WORST EVER!
