Brian Samuel's Online Review Report Card

This man is a liar and one of the WORST doctors in the ER here. Nothing is ever done about him. He continues on to abuse patient after patient and the ER just blows it off. I'd rather DIE than to have this jerk save my life.

Patient, 57 year old female, 5 year survivor of a heart attack, and her husband, enters Manchester Unity ER, in Manchester TN, 4-23-18, presents with self reported elevated blood pressure concerns. Reports home test show 180/80 dangerously high. Triaged after 10 minutes, blood pressure taken at 153/80, mildly elevated. Patient concerned about why the sudden spike. After short wait, Dr. Samuel walks in leaving the door to the exam room open. Ask, what is the problem. Patient starts to say she checked BP at home, at which Dr. Samuel cut her off ands stated, we have no record of what you were at home, what did the nurse tell you the BP is now? (He had no chart, so I guess he really didn’t know) When the patient told him, he said that is not really that high. He asked her age, again no chart, and she told him. Dr. Samuel began a long description of how blood pressure changes over time and other nonrelevant data. The husband interjected, that she had a heart attack, and this is why we’re concerned. The doctor began a legal disclaimer that he was not withholding treatment and asked the patient if she wanted him to do a cardiac workup. He taunted “so you think you are having a heart attack?”, she quickly said she didn’t think so, but was concerned about he SUDDEN spike in BP. He then repeated his nonrelevant lecture, ending with we cannot tell why. The husband interjected that the driving reason to be here was also concern of a stroke. He then said, “So you think you are having a stroke?” in a tone best described as taunting. He then asked the patient if she wanted him to order a brain scan and workup? She declined and said, if you could just make sure my BP is coming down, that would be fine. The doctor agreed, but said that he didn’t treat BP, that needed to be done by the patients family doctor. He offered a prescription. The patient asked if there was a pharmacy and the doctor stated there was none. The patient would need to fill it in the morning. Concerned about the symptoms returning overnight, the doctor said, I’m not withholding treatment, and at this point the patient wanted to simply leave. The entire exam was done with the door open and the doctor never approached the patient, or checked any vitals during the exam. A nurse took the BP, it was slightly lower and the patient was discharged. No staff or the doctor did a complete medical history. The doctor seemed defensive from the first encounter and was not forthcoming in offering help or diagnostics. The patient stated this the worst doctor she had ever encounters. I would highly recommend not using this doctor when possible. He seemed not to hear or to dismiss, the patients concerns.

He was so mean. CÃ lled m a lier .he had no idea what was talking about. Thank worst dr I have ever seen.

My experience with Dr. Samuel was the worst experience with any Dr I have seen. He had no compassion or empathy for my medical problems. He judged me as soon as I walked into the er. He already knew how he was going to deal with me without listening to what was wrong with me. I have never been so humiliated or treated so badly at an er in my life.

Misdiagnosed illness, rude, would not listen to or answer concerns. When I told the nurse I wanted to file a complaint, I was told it would do no good because he was part owner of the hospital. I will never return to CRMC for any reason. I will make the drive to Vanderbilt.

Should not have a license to practice medicine in my honest opinion.

My foot was crushed and this man stood across the room and told me I'd be fine by Monday. Never once did he examine me. If he had he would have seen my foot was turning black. I've since have had to have four surgeries.

I went to the ER last evening with severe pain and right away was treated like something lower than a human life form. I felt I was wasting his time with my pain. He ran a battery of tests and said there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH ME, like the pain was imaginary. When my family Doctor reviewed my tests the next day I was informed that I had a Kidney Stone that was causing my pain. My Doctor then scheduled me with a Urologist right away! I felt humiliated, belittled and down right stupid for being in pain and wasting his time, I guess he had other thing that were more important than the patients that he took an oath to help. He is rude, pompous and one the worst Doctors I have ever been in contact with. And in the future if I have to go to the ER and he is the attending physician I would rather DIE than have him come any where near me! I wonder how many other patients have been mis-diagnosed by this Doctor. My mother had a identical experience with this same Doctor the day before Thanksgiving last year. I know that Cookeville is a haven for drug addicts but NOT EVERYONE IN THE COUNTY ARE DRUG ADDICTS and are going to the ER for actual help and may actually be in pain! I will be contacting other medical personnel to file a formal complaint. I also feel just because someone went to school for years to become a Doctor makes him a good Doctor.
