List of Slatton Monte's Reviews
I only talked with him a brief amount of time. All of the actual work, i.e. stress test, EKG, echocardiogram, walk on the treadmill, was performed by Dr. Slatton's staff of nurses and FNPs. This includes the final, lengthy, review and explanation of procedures which was performed by his nurse practitioner. She went to great lengths to answer any questions I had.
After a total of 7 heart attacks and being admitted to hospital, Dr. Slatton became my doctor. I was in Amarillo visiting my parents and yes I had 7 heart attacks. Dr. Slatton introduced himself while I was being given a chemical stress test on Sunday June 13, 2021. Never actually did see him just heard him. I was scheduled for a stent on Monday. He started procedure without any sedation. Either he did not order or the nurse did not hear to give me sedation. Oh bravo, no sedation. He was ready to close up with no stent being placed. Grace is the one who caught that the circumflex artery was 71%~99% blocked. Only by the Grace of God was I saved on that procedure. He never spoke to my mother after procedure (we were assured he would talk to her after completion of procedure). Late Tuesday morning I met his PA who explained procedure and outcome. Two days after being released from hospital I had an office visit on Thursday June 17, 2021. Met with someone else completely. No!
Treated me as though I was wasting his time. I presented with 2 abnormal EKG's and he wanted to know why I was there. Ordered some tests and has not followed up (test was abnormal - moderately severe). Poor patient care and customer service by the entire office. I sat in the waiting room for 3 hours first visit. Second visit was over 2 hours because the nurse who hands out halter monitors did not check her box for patients waiting. Said that she did not know I was there because they did not HAND it to her. I will be asking to be referred to another cardiologist - one who cares.
I have been Dr Slatton’s patient since 1997. I met him in the emergency room where in my opinion, he saved my life. Over the 22 years of our relationship he’s been in, I think, 3 different locations, each one offering more in-house services to better meet the needs of his patients. I am (retired now) a pilot, and every year after 1997 there were many FAA hoops through which I must jump to keep my medical to fly. Dr Slatton and his group always met my needs. Heart doctors are busy and I’m sure they prioritize their patients, i.e. Emergency Rooms come first. I understood this and tried to be an understanding, patient patient. I believe, “What goes around comes around”, so I was kind to and smiled for the nurses and staff. For that, I was too, treated kindly. Have I had a long wait for an appointment? Yes! But has Dr Slatton and staff always met my needs? Yes! I feel fortunate he was my ER Dr those 22 years ago and I would recommend him highly to anyone, and have, to some of my family, including my mother and dad, who feel the same way about him!
He didn't take the time to even read my test results and said No Cath needed, while two other cardiologists said I needed one.
Good doctor, but very conservative. Terrible staff.
I waited nearly 4 hours (an hour of that was in the cath lab, laying on a steel table and absolutely freezing to death) and then was told that he had an emergency. However they did not offer to reschedule nor apologize for the wait. All of the staff were cold and impersonal. Staff only spoke when they had to and no effort was made to be kind...in fact they were all borderline rude. I still need to have my angiogram done but I don't know if it will be with this group.
Dr Slatton has been my dr. For several years and is my father-in-law's dr. I have found him to be very professional and never requiring unnecessary testing. I have recommended him to others.
Dr. Slatton is a poor reprsentation of a cardiologist. All he cares about is the big mighty dollar as he orders a battery of tests and will no give the results or explain why he is ordering them. Intern he gives the patient the wrong medication that will not help the issue instead the patient gets worse. If you have deep pockets and want a Dr. That could careless about your well-being then Slatton is the one for you.
He is not friendly. He does not listen to the patient. He was my husband's doctor.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
