List of Andrews Center's Reviews
(2 years ago)I've been threw over 7 case workers the past 2 years didn't see 90 precent of them they quit before my appointments. There was a solid year I didn't see a doctor because they kept quiting. And as of now Ive been waiting 1 hour to see the doc when I had an 8:30am appointment the earliest and first one of the day... I've been going hear for 10 years and it's the worst place but I have no where else to go.(5/7/21) They seemed to have gotten there act together more or less a good case worker really make a difference you need to make sure you have a good one because as great as great my new doctor is he's very busy and the nurse don't like to bother him when he's with patients he's so booked. Timothy James Furlong, MD is a great doctor that cares and listens and try's his best to get you well and even has back up plans, and makes sure that you get an appointment with a nurse to see how you are doing. He's very busy but does his best to see to all his patients needs and if you have a good case worker like I have to help you in the prosses if you ever feel like you have been put on a back burner or questions and problems aren't being answered in a timely manner talk with your case worker about it and they will do there best and make sure you are being taken care of and getting proper info and treatment.
Hey I talked to Dr furlong pretty regularly as in I add up all my life he will remember me growing up . There is just a short time left to see him and yes he is the best . I hope any way I can help this is a sad time for all us my son is going to have to go back to the Andrew center when he come home after being gone over five years from being kidnapped by his grandmother given to his abusive father who is still my husband separated 10 years ago when he beat us kids and I soon to sleep with sister . I hope this place will be able to help with my son who is comming home after five years ago being taken away from me after I just got back on my meds and had a breakdown over a guy furlong was and Andrew center staff helped me and my family
Dr furlong is the greatest takes a little while to see him but he is very caring about your situation. I would highly recommend him and the Andrews center for all of your mental health needs.I've been going to the Andrews center sentence 1994 and have yet to find anyone better.....
Some of the reviews are puzzling, but it may be attributed to different experience for patients and those attempting to become patients. The staff is wonderful & the psychiatrist on duty (only one -- Dr. Furlong) is very thorough & by far the best psychiatrist I've spoken to out of a good half dozen or so over the last thirty years (since I was a teenager). The downside to this thoroughness (& actually listening to what you say) is that the appointments tend to run late (it is also one of the outlets for 'psychiatric emergencies' from Henderson County Jail, which can cause these two or three hour delays on rare occasions). Over the last ten years, I'd say my 'average' wait time for appointments is about 45 minutes. I think it's a fair trade-off.I can definitely understand that if these delays also occur during the intake process, that could lead to some one star ratings, but just wanted to give my perspective as an active patient. They used to have two psychatrists, approx. ~12-13 years ago, but funding was cut. This is why it is hard to get in as a new patient (at least for issues that require a psychiatrist). They take Medicaid & Medicare, so demand is high .. and supply is low.
I got out of a psychiatric hospital after attempting suicide. This was the recommended place for follow-up and continued care outpatient. I have been out of the hospital since March 2020 and have not received any counseling. The appointments with my social worker or case worker whatever she is are never on time Or they have forgotten to call me all together. When I had a horrible side effect from the medication I was taking the phone nurse basically blew me off. I never heard from the doctor. I had to go to my primary care physician To be taken seriously. She told me that this definitely was a side effect and they should have taken me seriously. No one up there is organized and it’s a mess. I will be receiving my care elsewhere.
Was wanting to see about getting some help since my primary and a few other locals do6seem to care. But reading the reviews is really disheartening. Seriously, they are still getting paid from the state and they can't provide services? So sad that they don't care more about people. I would love to be a fly on the wall to see why they can't help. Easy money..so sad
Never see a doctor this place is a joke
If this wasnt the only place that services my county I wouldn't go here! I used to go to metrocare when I lived in Collin county and northstar existed.. I have sat here for dann near two hours, ive seen people who came in after me be called before me, and be out before the next person who came after mw got called back. My brother has already been pulled back twice and we came in at the same time! Its beginning to look like they only care about certain people and if you aren't apart of their club or dress the part you don't exist!!! And at the time of this review I'm still sitting in the waiting room and havent moves or been called back!
I have been going over 17 years not on time but good people
Being going on 7 yrs wait forever to see Dr. Furlong. He is OK. But to me all he wants to do is in crease on meds and not look more beyond the issues I struggle everyday such as my mood swings. To me he doesn't want to listen and help more

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
