List of Aaron Chase Maxwell's Reviews
Best doctor I have ever had in my 70+ years. Very thorough. Solicits and answers all questions. Explains everything from lab tests to meds to diagnoses so it is easy to understand. Kind, compassionate. Dr. Maxwell really cares about his patients. Extremely smart, up to date on medical literature. Never feels like he is in a hurry. Excellent referrals to other speciatists when needed. Keeps up with my medical records from other doctors I see. Open to non-traditional ideas about wellness. Works to give patients what they need. Never feels impersonal. A special doctor and a great person.

My appts w/Maxwell are always excellent - thoughtful, informative, warm, caring and efficient. I’ll be 84 in Sept’23 (female) and believe I’m now his oldest patient. Because there is so little relevant research on aging women & health, and his keen interest and commitment to not just the science, but also continuing quality of life, including mine, I feel he is an excellent medical asset. While he is Western trained, he definitely has respect for spiritual and holistic wellness. I grew up in a family owning corner pharmacies and want/take very, very little inthe way of Rx. He respects that and has helped me keep very close to prescription-free. I’m an organic gardener and workout 5-6x wkly at the Y and track my wellness measurable factors on my Fitbit so he has both my annual checkup lab data, annual wellness exam and my daily/weekly ‘stats’ as I monitor all that if/and whenever he wants to see such. I feel incredibly fortunate to be Dr. Maxwell’s patient and hope I have him lifetime. He says it looks a lot to him we’ve at least 20 yrs ahead together based on my health and practices. I had to chuckle about the (neg) reviews referencing him and his laptop - he’s just on that WITH patients ACTUALLY for THEIR benefit and so their med history is well documented. He has terrific people skills and treats his staff like they are golden - I appreciate that and know they and his colleagues hold him in very hight personal and professional regard. I can promise you if you ever have an emergency, you will have the finest physician attending to you in the Seton/Austin system. Plus - if for any reason - like travel - and you have a local emergency everything a sub-Dr would need would be right there on you in your records. I very much am a Maxwell fan - but because he is both a fine human and excellent at his job.
I feel super lucky to have found Dr Maxwell. As a physician myself, my goal is to have a doctor who knows more about their specialty than I do, cares about their patients, evidence-based and does only what is necessary to take care of people. Dr Maxwell is a perfect fit!
Best Internist MD I’ve had in my 83-year lifetime. Thorough. Thoughtful. Kind. Pragmatic. Compassionate. Visionary. Keeps you in mind. Never rushed. Interested in the research but also in your reality. Supports you in planning ahead. Respectful of your time; anticipates the same. A Western-trained but emotionally savvy physician; as interested in prevention as in treating. Advises limits & seriously considers prior to prescribing and does not depend on drugs as solutions; only as system supports as most useful. I also appreciate his respect for his staff and PA and the transparency and active value of their interactive patient/staff exchanges via their well functioning portal. The fact they (Capital Medical) do almost every bit of their lab-work and clinical testing in-house is stellar plus very fairly priced and affordable. Seton/Capital Medical is fortunate to have been able to recruit Dr.Maxwell to Austin. I realize I am fortunate he was taking new patients when I was referred to him by a head of the Dell/Seton medical School/Hospital the year that opened.
I work in the building Dr Maxwell's practice was formerly located in and I chose him to be my doctor based on recommendations from several friends who are employees in his practice. The staff there really like him and say he makes it a more fun place to work. I have been impressed with his concern not only for managing my illness but for prevention and wellness, as well as how I am doing mentally and spiritually. It's clear he cares for the whole patient, not just their illnesses. He knows a lot and shares what he knows, not in an academic way with big words but he explains things in normal English. It's like he's a teacher and he teaches me about the physical things happening with my body, the actual science, and sometimes draws pictures or grabs books to help me understand. He's a good listener and never makes me feel like I am imagining things even though I have an illness that a lot of doctors treat as if its psychological. I am also overweight and he helps me with that but never in a shaming way at all, more like he understands its medical. He spends a lot of time with me each time I am there, a and a ton of time at my annual physicals, and then instead of dictating the notes after he leaves the room, he dictates them in the room with me there so I can hear and add to my chart note. His recall of our conversations is amazing and fast, and I like knowing what's going in my notes, like its not secret. I think the people on here who said he is on his laptop too much are old, because every doctor has to electronically chart now days and I dont find Dr Maxwell looks at his laptop except when he has to chart. His medical assistant is quick to take care of messages I send in the portal and I find overall they are fast with referrals and prescriptions. I know through friends in the practice that some patients get frustrated with her; I find her polite but she doesn't seem chatty. I jokingly brought it up with him and he told me she has great boundaries and she protect him from inappropriate demands, and that he has 2000 patients but only one of her, so he will refuse to continue seeing patients who are rude to her. She is a hispanic woman, and as another hispanic woman who works in a medical practice, I kind of love that he stands up for his employee like that and looks out for her because patients can be super rude to staff and especially female and minority staff. Basically I just love Dr Maxwell and really like going to see him even though I usually hate going to see doctors.
I really like Dr. Maxwell. I've had medical issues since I was two--my oldest memory is literally running away, terrified, from doctors and staff at a children's hospital when I was two--and I've also worked in healthcare for the last 17 years, so I've been around hundreds of physicians as both a patient and an employee (I'm a nurse and a former 911 ambulance EMT), and I have to say that I think Dr. Maxwell is a great doctor. When you go to his office, you don't feel rushed, you feel like he's really focused on you, he takes his time, he actually listens to you, and he legitimately wants to help you. I don't even live in Austin anymore, I live in San Antonio now, and I drive 1.5 to 2 hours each way just to see him for my appointments. He's a good doctor. And he always refills my prescriptions for me quickly and has helped me out with physician statements for work when I've gotten new jobs... I can't imagine why anyone would give him less than 5 stars. I don't know if he still does it, but he also used to be a professor at one of the local universities and I think the head of a floor at one of the teaching hospitals where he was in charge of teaching new resident doctors the practical skills of how to actually be good doctors. Something like that. All I know is that you can tell he really knows his stuff, not because he brags in any way, but you can just tell he's a really sharp, thoughtful person. And, unlike some doctors who seem to practice medicine with whatever knowledge they gained in medical school 20 years ago, you can tell he keeps up to date with the latest medical studies and papers because every now and then he'll talk about a new study that came out regarding an issue during out appointments. I've interacted with so many horrible doctors both personally and professionally throughout my life, that when you find a really good one, you feel like you tripped over a gold bar while out on a casual stroll. Dr. Maxwell is great. I give him my highest recommendation. I kinda don't want to, because part of me wants to selfishly keep his appointment times as open as possible for myself, but he truly deserves it.
I've been a patient of Dr Maxwell for a few years and he has always been approachable and thorough in my visits. I recommend him to someone looking for a doctor.
This is not a doctor who seems to actually care. Rarely looks up from his laptop and discredits your symptoms. Definitely not recommended.
I echo those sentiments. I was told he’s burned out and dropping patients. I was sent a certified letter saying I was no longer his patient. This was after I was refused care and relayed I was disappointed.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process.
