Unfortunately you don't really seem to have a choice in the physician who treats your child when you take them to the emergency room. You also are not in a position to investigate their reviews or what others think, so this may only be helpful after the fact. I took my son into the ER one day after he had minor surgery. Dr. Kienstra insisted in taking a chest x-ray to determine if he could have pneumonia. We explained that our son had already had multiple x-rays since he was born and that we would prefer for him not to have any more. He then dominated the conversation stating that it was really not a concern and we were being silly. Since my son had a fever over 103 for the entire day, I was worried that they wouldn't provide necessary antibiotics if we didn't comply, so we did. I wish my desires would have played a role in Dr. Kienstra's treatment. There is a reason he's an ER only physician, as there is no way he would be able to sustain long term patients with his bedside manners. And for the record, I am very aware of radiation as I work with it daily in the dental field.
