List of Bharani P. Challa's Reviews
Dr Challa was very thorough in her assessment. She was also knowledgeable and patient addressing our questions.
The wait times were ridiculous. What is the point in making an appointment for a time and waiting over an hour to see a doctor for 7 minutes....
The doctor’s staff does not return voicemails regarding test/xray results in a timely manner. This makes for a frustrating and anxious wait. The first time I waited nearly 2 weeks for a call on an x ray result on my child. Come to find out, they had the wrong number in their system. Now it has been 5 days since the last x ray ( radiologist promises results in 24 hrs). I have left 2 voicemails this week with no return call. My child is taking medication that I need to know if we can stop based on these x ray results!
We saw so many specialists and did many tests for our daughter before we finally saw Dr Challa. She recommended a simple blood test and we FINALLY a diagnosis!! She takes the time to sit and talk with us and takes my thoughts and opinions into consideration. Office is nice but (understandably so) they are very strict on appointment times. Plan ahead for Austin traffic and parking.
Admin gave us the wrong address to get in to see her. We made the appointment a month a head of time, drove 40 minutes, were give the wrong address again to go to 3 different places, and then they canceled because we were 20 min late. I will never use Seton. Horrible customer service
Saw the doc...for the first time in 4 months our baby slept 12 hours!!! The next day...10 hours!!! And ever since...we've been averaging 8-14 hours a night of uninterrupted sleep. She's worth any wait. She's totally personable and really well informed. And she treats kids...she actually assesses them and writes them the medicine they need to be happy. SUPER HAPPY! Five Stars and then some!
Bharani P. Challa, MD | Dell Children's Medical Center This most recent visit was our second and our last with this doctor. Our first visit we waited 45 minutes in the room for Challa to see us. On this visit she simply read basic questions from the computer that I have answered time and again on paperwork and sign in sheets for this visit. It was a very short and pointless appointment other than me asking to speak to a nutritionist. We live an hour away and our little baby was 12 weeks early. Our LO is on an NG feeding tube and a feeding schedule- I am pumping still as well. This visit with wait time was an all around 4 hour visit - not ideal for anyone. Our last visit was at 9:00 am. We were her first patient of the day. At 9:20 the MA poked his head in to tell us "she just arrived in the building". ?????? After 9:30 when Challa had yet to see us, we quietly packed up our things and left. No one attempted to discuss the matter with us - in person/phone/text or email. However, we did receive a summary report with poorly written and inaccurate discussion notes. The notes stated we left ABRUPTLY and that we did not schedule a follow up appointment as the MA suggested. We called the center to speak with someone about the notes and she said they would be corrected but that has yet to happen. All around lousy experience.
Dr. Challa is very knowledgeable but I felt like she wasn't willing to or wasn't comfortable with looking at my child as a whole person/body and was solely focused on her gut but not how that inter-plays with the rest of the body. I also felt that she wasn't interested in problem solving with me but was trying to fill the role of expert to the best of her ability even when the problem was admittedly difficult.
My son needed to be seen and she was the doctor who had the first available appt. The wait before being seen was long, once she was in the room the sat in front of the computer asking a series of questions listed (most of which we had filled out in the paperwork prior to being seen), and she did a quick once over. I didn't feel like she listened to what we had to say, she was more worried about typing our responses than thinking and responding to our concerns. I felt she was pushing formula for my breastfed infants problems. She wanted to see us back in a month but the first available follow up appt was 2 months (although her staff did call when an appt opened up closer to the 4 week mark). My husband and I came away from the appt with more questions than when we went to her. She did order a full list of labs and an abdominal ultrasound. I had to call for the lab results. This was not what I envisioned when I was referred to a GI specialist. I am going to try to switch to another MD in the practice for my sons follow up.
It was a Great Experience with this doctor :)

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
