This doctor is amazing!!
Best Ever This doctor is by far the most thorough and knowledgeable doctor i’ve ever met.
My first visit to see Dr. Godfrey, he walked into the exam room with a thorough understanding of my patient history. I was shocked that he had taken the time to go over my records and test results from Austin Psychological Center. Never has another doctor bothered to read over documentation that I have provided to them. He takes a logical and conservative approach to prescribing and is empathetic, and great listener. Would recommend him to friends and family.
Dr. G is AWESOME! He is very knowledgeable, caring, level-headed and easy to talk to/a great listener. I don't think the man ever sleeps, answering my portal questions early in the morning and late at night. I am a healthcare professional and hold my healthcare team to very high standards. I don't even think twice about driving the 1 1/2 hours each way from my home to his office--quality is more important than convenience. Dr. Godfrey exceeds all my expectations as the "quarterback" of all my healthcare needs!!
What do I want in a doctor: 1). Knowledgeable. Knows his / her / their stuff. 2). Personable. Doesn't have to be the next host of the Academy Awards, but pleasant to be around and spends time listening and focusing on any issues I have. 3). Proactive. Push me to better with my health overall. 4). Takes Ownership. Doesn't hand me off immediately to a specialist; takes the time to help coordinate and plan my care to actually solve my issue, which may involve specialists but at least understands the overall approach and game-plan for diagnosis / care / treatment. 5). Takes patients seriously. Doesn't just fall back to "well it's probably just X or Y, call me back next year if the problem isn't fixed." Doesn't make assumptions or take shortcuts. Dr. Godfrey gets a 10 out of 10 on all five categories in my book. While I have a great deal of respect for anyone who suffers through medical school and earns the right to be called "Doctor", honestly half of the healthcare professionals I see are more in the category of "book smart" versus "problem solvers." Dr. Godfrey is both in my opinion. Sort of like having an engineer that can solve a complex Calculus equation versus one that can take a look at a bridge and spot a likely failure point ... in that analogy, I would happily pass over any bridge constructed by Dr. Godfrey.
Good Listener.
Horrible short experience. Scheduled an appointment for May 6th at 9 AM to take a look at a shoulder injury as a new patient. (new to Austin). Received a call the night before the appointment asking me to confirm my race and nationality for the registration record. This was the only communication I had with them. Showed up at 9:00AM as scheduled. They told me my appointment had been cancelled and rescheduled for another date because the doctor only takes one new patient in the morning and 1 new patient in the evening.. No communication other than that "confirmation" call. So questions: How was that decision made to drop/cancel/automatically reschedule me vs another patient? Shoulder injuries aren't physicals. This isn't a "lets wait and see" appointment. Time matters. If there was a good reason for choosing another patient and/or dropping me that's understandable. Just communicate. For example: If you didn't feel you were the right doctor/office for my situation just let me know so I can find help. If I would have rescheduled the appointment how would I trust that if I showed up again they wouldn't have rescheduled me again? Could have been handled way better with a simple phone call not a surprise. Really nice team to talk to at the office/front desk but you're rolling dice on appointments.
Dr. Godfrey and his team are excellent. This was my first visit and he spent a lot of time asking questions and listening so he could get a full picture of my medical history and concerns. I felt heard and a sense of relief while talking with him. He is extremely knowledgeable, caring and thorough. I found his diagnosis and advice to be very helpful. Great experience with nurse Lynn as well. She is very patient, thorough and knowledgeable. She seems to really care about her patients. Office was very clean and felt safe with good COVID protocols. Parking was convenient and appointment was on time. Great overall experience.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
