Dean Chen's Online Review Report Card

Dr Dean Chen is an excellent surgeon and doctor. He has excellent bedside manner, allows the patient to make informed decisions for her/himself, is caring and attentive, answers all questions backed by knowledge and most importantly is a stellar surgeon. He checks in on his patients personally the day of and day after surgery. And his office manager, Matt, is so helpful, prompt and friendly. His practice has a personal feel and you don’t feel like a number, as in large practices. I highly recommend Dr Dean Chen.

My wife had a fall. She went to the hospital. Have very clear x-rays of a broken elbow fractured went into his office. He informed her it was not broken to use. It still had a fracture. He continued to examine other body parts including our ankle who we had a real specialist on, gave her counterdecory information and then then proceeds to send us billing for an insurance plan she was covered at 100%. I am speaking with the attorney general, the medical board and I put in an ethics complaint I am pursuing for malpal and fraudulent billing. Go here if you like, but this doctor shouldn't be operating on a stuffed animal let alone living creature

Professional, knowledgeable, and experienced orthopedic surgeon. He has treated both me and my wife. I trust him 100%.

Two years ago, Dr. Chen kept me from getting an unnecessary knee surgery that another doctor in his practice at the time was about to perform. Today, he and his assistant Matt fixed up my wife's fractured wrist. He's a professional, experienced, and knowledgeable orthopedic specialist that I trust 100%. Highly recommended.

We have seen Dr. Chen for several orthopedic concerns in my family. These include my son recovering from a sports-related hip injury and my aging father who required surgery (under his direction) from an infected leg. In all instances, Dr. Chen was professional, respectful, and always in tune with both the latest medical information and the unique needs of his patients. He has an outstanding reputation in the Austin medical community and his patients. I can not recommend him strongly enough. He is also skilled in translating complex medical updates and procedures in ways everyone can understand -- this is a major and under-recognized skill among surgeons.

Had him for a workers comp claim. When workers comp wouldn't approve any physical therapy he just discharged me and had me 100% ready. My leg shakes when I walk along with chronic pain. So thank you Chen you screwed me and now I have to go and seek a lawyer

Dr Dean Chen was my worker comp orthopedic surgeon for my torn meniscus. I normally don't leave reviews but after experiencing a pain free surgery i felt i had to share my outcome. He answer all of my questions before and after my arthroscopy surgery. His staff also deserves a lot credit for following up on any forms needed to get back to work. My 4 daughter saw him for a torn labrum in her right hip. She had already been on crutches and in a lot of pain for 1 1/2 months he was the second Doctor we had seen for her injury. First visit we bring our own xrays and MRI. He does his own X-ray gives a 5 min exam and tells us she needed physical therapy for 6 weeks then come for another exam. Daughter does 4 weeks physical therapy no improvement. Physical Therapist tells us she is not improving and sends note to Dr Chen. We schedule a second appointment thinking he will now be ok to do hip surgery on her. We go to the appointment he does another 5 min exam and tells us he is not comfortable doing that type of surgery. He then recommends a actual Hip specialist to us. His office then goes ahead and charges us for the visit. If he was not comfortable doing that type of surgery we should of never gone to see him in the first place. Then him seeing us for a second time is in my opinion theft and fraud. My insurance company has been notified and are investigating Dr Chen and his office. Don’t trust this guy.

Another awesome crown treatment by Dr Chen and her team. I did not bring great and durable teeth to Dr Chen’s office, but she has done a fantastic job with all of my mouth care and crowns. They also work well with my anxiety. They give me the breaks I need to stay relaxed during the procedures. I have no fear over dental treatment with Dr Chen and her team!
