I was having problems with my back. I dont usually complain when something hurts but in this case it hurt like hell. I spoke with Doctor Elizondo late that evening. The Doctor got me scheduled first thing in the morning. The staff was very accommodating and made me feel at ease even though I was cranky as hell because of the pain. When the Doctor came in he shook my hand and let me describe what was going on. I have seen my share of doctors in the past but Elizondo seemed very authentic in his concern for my wellbeing. He led me through my options and gave his opinion of the causes after a preliminary exam. I got two injections in my back and after a few minutes the pain started to go away. Most doctors will spend 5 or 10 minutes with a patient and treat the experience as something they have to do till they can get back to there golf game. This guy spent half an hour with me to make sure I was taken care of. He set me up with PT and xrays just to make sure the cause of the pain was not something that could be debilitating. I have to go back in a few weeks for a checkup and I can tell you that after my experience this will not be a problem in the slightest.
Dr. Elizondo provided a great service to me a couple of years ago. I am writing this now as an update because the information that he gave me, the avoidance of surgery, the directions he gave me on how to stay healthy and prevent further injury to my back, help me every day of my life and I have not had a recurrence of the serious back problems that I had experienced prior to seeing him. Although I have a chronic back issue, with the advice he gave me, I am able to continue doing physical activities as well as the athletic activities that I enjoy. Many thanks.
Misdiagnosed and talked into lots of prolotherapy
Dr. Elizondo was attentive to my concerns, listened well, was patient, and did not appear to be in a rush. After listening carefully he then methodically reviewed my records, went into detail showing me the xrays and explaining everything that I needed to know to understand my situation. Perhaps most importantly, he was very conservative in his approach and gave my body time to heal without suggesting going under the knife or doing anything invasive. He made a good referral for physical therapy as well as giving me excellent tips himself on how to get my body back into shape. When I first saw him I had barely been able to walk, even Even with a cane, and now only a few months later I am active, totally painfree, And walking, at a fast pace, 5 miles a day. I am grateful to have found a physician who not only has excellent medical skills, who cared, but also had good communication skills As well as being able to relate on a persontoperson level .
This is the doctor for you if you want one who really cares, really listens, really explains, and gets results. Top notch.
I have had back problems for about 25 years and have seen a lot of back specials over that time. Most of them I havent been too impressed with. My internist referred me to Dr. E when I began having neck and nerve problems as well.At my first visit, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Dr. E is both an extremely intelligent and competent doctor as well as being a very sweet and caring person. That is a very rare combination, particularly for specialists, and a hallmark of a true healer. At all my visits, he has listened carefully, answered all my questions, made sure I understood both my diagnosis and my options for treatment, and gave me all the information I needed to make an informed and collaborative decision about how we would proceed with my treatment. The inhouse physical therapy department is in a big, lovely, open area with windows all around and is a great environment for healing. All in all, topnotch.
