List of Erica Swegler's Reviews
I went to Dr. Swegler to change types of birth control on February 6 of this year. At that appointment, I signed the form to order a nexplanon and was told I would receive a call to schedule the insertion before March. Just after the first week of March passed, I called her office to see if there was an update but everyone was busy, so I was told they would call me back. A week passed and I didn’t receive a call back so I decided to call again. The person was apologetic and said that everyone was busy at that time but I would receive a call back by the end of that day since it was the second time I had called. Two entire weeks passed and I never received a call, so I called for a third time. Again, everyone was busy, but they called me back the next day only to tell me that they have no record of my change in medication and the order was never placed so I would have to come back into the office to resign the form and then wait even longer to get it inserted. Not only was this whole experience unprofessional and frankly ridiculous, I will not be returning to get the nexplanon because I am nervous that if Dr. Swegler inserts it and I find my body does not react well, it might take months and endless phone calls to get an appointment to get it removed. I cannot recommend her and her office less.
This was the first primary care doctor I saw here in Texas and I will not go to another. I went based off of some reviews I saw online not knowing any doctors in the area and I feel I got very lucky I stumbled upon this place in my search for a doctor here. The experience I had at Village Medical was honestly the best I've had anywhere. I wish I could take this practice and the staff back to Kansas with me. I was expecting the usual in and out but they were very thorough and sat and spoke with me for a very long time and made sure I felt better before I even left. I'm so used to the quick chat about whatever is going on and not even being physically looked at followed by "Sounds like you have this, here's some pills, goodbye." But I was here for about 2 hours and they did a very thorough assessment, a few tests, and some treatments before I left as well as setting up follow up care. I've never had an experience like this with a medical practice before. They really wanted to get to the root of the problem and make sure I got the right diagnosis and get better and took their time in doing so. If I could rate higher I would. All medical practices should be like this. Dr. Rodriguez and her staff went far beyond anything I have experienced or expected.
Dr. Swegler is absolutely the SMARTEST (!!!), most COMPASSIONATE and KIND doctor I have ever seen. She treats you as a partner and truly cares. You can tell her anything. because her office is a no-shame zone. She talks to you as if you are are intelligent and she cares about your opinion and who you are as a person. I live in Fort Worth and see her even though she practices Austin. NOTE: If you read the other reviews, you will notice any review under 5-stars has nothing to do with her care.
Dr Swegler is the “Gold Standard” in her field. I am an established patient of Dr Swegler well over 10 years. Dr Swegler is very knowledgeable, courteous and forthright. She does not beat around the bush with me about things that are wrong and could go wrong. She is very compassionate and always listens to me. I know that I can present to Dr Swegler with any health care concern, and feel confident that she will address it to the best of her ability and get me the care that I need. I feel very lucky to have found Dr Swegler. She is the absolute best doctor I have ever seen. Thank you, Dr. Swegler for your professionalism.
Dr Swegler spent time explaining treatments and was compassionate and caring. I would definitely recommend her.
If I haven't moved out of Austin, I will keep going to Dr. Sweglar. She's very knowledgeable and caring. I have followed her to different locations, she has always been great. I saw her at this new Medical Village location once, she is still a great doctor here.
Terrible/predatory billing practices. Avoid at all cost.
I used Dr. Swegler when she was at Beacon Hill before the transition to Village Medical and had to stop using her as my GP. Village Medical's phone line is an absolute train wreck. I also frequently have had prescriptions sent to the wrong pharmacy, with the wrong medications, with wrong dosage instructions. Sometimes prescriptions are never even sent over to begin with. The most important thing to know if you are considering using this practice is that it is IMPOSSIBLE TO CONNECT TO SOMEONE LOCALLY THROUGH THE PHONE LINE. Want to call for directions to the office (it's incorrect on Google Maps)? Not possible. Want to call to send a quick question to your doctor? Either use the portal (sometimes messages show in raw HTML) and wait two days for an answer or call and have a 15 minute phone call with someone in a call center... Yikes, I'm done.
When Dr. Swegler was practicing out of Beacon Family Health I could not have found a better doctor. Listens attentively to your needs and helps find a solution. Now that she has moved to Village Medical on Anderson lane it’s as if I have been ghosted. Had a new patient visit at village medical to get all medications refilled with her (after not even having been told she moved practices and my refill requests had been going into the abyss for 2 months) in August 2021. It is now October 14th 2021 and my pharmacy has still not received the refills. I have called back 4+ times to get this resolved and each time I’m parched through to a call center instead of the actual village medical location who could resolve this. I have now been out of refills on multiple medications for months which is just simply unacceptable. They keep leaving urgent notes to get these refills sent to the location but still 2 month later it hasn’t happened. Not Dr. Swegler’s fault but if I can’t get the medications she is prescribing me even with much effort from my part what is the point. Previous conversation with a specialist she had referred me to mentioned this has happened to other of her previous patients as well so I’ve reach back out to the specialist for assistance finding a new PCP. Sad because I really appreciated Dr. Swegler’s input.
Wonderful experience!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
