I found Dr Meynig to be a wonderful surgeon. My recovery from surgery was smooth and pain free. The orientation of the incision was done in a way to maximize my mobility and minimize strain! However, what I appreciate the most was the great job he did communicating to me in the consult. I had early stage malignant melanoma and he walked me through how it occurs, the severity or lack there of, the process of removal, test result confirmation, and future prevention/detection. Also, I found his office staff to be equally wonderful. Very friendly, helpful and compassionate! Overall, just an awesome experience in a difficult time!

I hope you don’t need surgery, but if you I highly recommend dr meynig. Initially he took a lot of time to explain my issue, my options and the procedure. On the day of the surgery at the hospital he had amazing bedside manors. He was confident and relaxed as he explained things again and Really put my wife and I at ease. When I went to get my stitches out a couple days ago he again took a lot of time explaining the results and my options going forward.

Dr. Meynig operated on my husband years back. He made a terrible mistake by accidentally cutting an arthery while operating on an inguinal hernia. Dr. Meynig wanted to remove one of his testicles because he was afraid he was going to get a call in the middle of the night for an emergency operation. We dismissed Dr. Meynig and called a real good surgeon who fixed the problem right away without removing it. My husband recovered and has been fine ever since.

I was diagnosed with melanoma by my dermatologist who referred me to Dr. Meynig. First, I had an initial visit to discuss the situation and what would be done. He did an excellent job explaining the procedure to me and what I could expect. Second, I had the surgery as an outpatient at a local hospital. Before the procedure he stopped by my room to double check everything with me. He asked me to once again point out where the melanoma was as I had had other moles removed a week after my initial visit. I pointed it out to him and said I was 99% sure that was the one. He seemed surprised and gave me a little lecture about how he relies on patients to know what's going on. I was all stressed out due to having an IV started and radioactive dye injected into the site of the melanoma. So I wasn't in the mood for a lecture. Even my spouse who was in the room commented on it afterwards. I later checked with a couple of my friends who are physicians. Both of them told me that under no circumstances was I responsible for knowing where he was going to excise a 2 cm margin around the melanoma. The procedure was done and everything turned out great. I had no pain and the wound is healing nicely. Lastly, I had a follow-up visit which entailed him asking me how everything was going as well as the removal of my stitches. Overall I really liked Dr. Meynig and think he is an excellent surgeon. I would not hesitate to return to him.

Dr. Meynig is professional yet concerned with your mental well-being, going the extra mile to keep you informed and well cared for. In my experience he is an exception.

Another personal/professional recommendation from me, a primary care doctor. I have referred many, many patients to Dr. Meynig through the years and have never had anything but a good experience. He is at the top of the list for surgeons in Austin for my patients, me, and my family.

Dr Meynig was friendly and did an excellent job checking the areas in question and explaining my options in regards to surgery and the differences in procedures. I opted for the laparoscopic surgery option and scheduled the surgery. While doing this, the staff noticed I had not met my deductible for the current year and were able to move my surgery up so it would be 100% covered instead of taking a hit early in the year. On the day of surgery Dr Meynig and the staff did an excellent job of making me feel comfortable and explaining all the steps and procedures. During the surgery he found an abnormality and was able to remove it safely and complete the hernia repair. They also did an excellent job of keeping my girlfriend updated during the procedure. I would highly recommend Dr Meynig.

Dr. Meynig's expertise , patience, beside manner, surgical knowledge and experience is outstanding. I am positive that I received the best surgery and post-surgical care on the planet. I knew what to expect and was fully briefed on all aspects of the procedure and the expected outcome. My recovery was smooth and rapid. Dr Meynig was recommended by my primary care physician as a top notch surgeon to repair an inguinal hernia. The entire experience went as smoothly as I could have ever hoped for: 1- all my office visits went on time. 2- Dr Meynig is an excellent communicator, and made every effort to answer all my questions and concerns. He also provided excellent post surgery guidance. 3- The entire staff at the surgery center were caring, professional, and communicated well. 4- In my particular case it was necessary to do a moderate sized incision and I was worried about post operative pain - all for naught. It was virtually pain free. After a couple of days I was sore when I moved a lot. After a couple of weeks even the soreness went away. 5- After a month the scar is barely noticeable. As a patient, I can only assume that the results indicate the quality of the doctor. Based on a result that could not have been better, I would have to say Dr Meynig is an excellent surgeon, and doctor.
