Love Dr. Downing and feel safe in her capable hands. She is always receptive to my concerns and takes time to patiently answer my questions. Also, the location can’t be beat. This is a very good place to go if you want to deliver your baby at St. David’s main.I haven’t had any problems with staff, but I’m sorry to those who have. I know it’s hard for the physicians; they don’t have as much choice in their staff due to high turnover in the industry.

Unfortunately as much as I like Dr. Downing, the staff was rude, short with me, and super slow. I was dealing with some serious things. I already had to wait a month before I even had first appointment to figure out what was going on with me. I get that they might be booked but I considered what I was dealing with to be serious for my health in the long run. I have to ride the bus or uber bc my location is pretty darn far and it takes up most of my day to get there and come back. So I have to make sure everything is settled and taken care of before I leave. Fast forward a week after my appointment I still hadn't heard anything, another week after that goes by and I am still waiting. (I called almost every other day to see if anything has come in) another week goes by and I had to consistently call to find my results. It just felt like they were taking their time because they "have more important patients." So after almost 3 entire weeks go by I get my results and they presribed my antibiotics but I never got confirmation on what my results were.. An ENTIRE month goes by and i had some serious complications. I decided to make an appointment with Austin Regional Clinic since my boyfriend goes there and he found out about his results in just 2 days of waiting! They call me, and tell me a whole month later that they "didn't have enough specimen." At this point I was extremely frustrated and in a lot of pain having to deal with what I was going through. Fortunately ARC made an appointment with me same day I made the call and I got treated for the things I was dealing with, with no hesitation. This threw things off with my boyfriend and I and prolonged our situation up until now. 4 months later. So from May up until today( end of September) They need to work on communicating with one another and updating patients sooner than way later. Nobody should have to deal with such a complicated situation as mine was. I hope this is a wake up call for the OBGYN. Have a good day.

The doctor was great - no complaints - she seems smart and on top of it. She’s nice, patient and knowledgeable. The facility is clean and conveniently located. However, I have to give the place 2 stars bc of the staff. They are cold, very rude and extremely slow. I regret that I will not be returning purely because I don’t want to have to deal with the staff again, which I’m bummed by bc I liked Dr Downing.

I made the mistake of giving this place the benefit of the doubt after reading the negative reviews and am now stuck with an insane bill.First of all it took months to order my replacement IUD, the medical assistant accidentally sent the order to the wrong place? After meeting with Dr Downing I mentioned the negative reviews and my concern and she said they were having issues previously but changed companies and fixed the issue I trusted her and went forward with this office.The doctor and medical assistant both assured me that everything would be covered by my insurance, I even called the company the device was being ordered from to be safe and was told the same.Finally almost 2 months later they finally receive the IUD and Dr Downing isn't even available to insert it and I was seen by a different doctor I'd never met before.At this point, I just went forward with the IUD insertion and that was that.Weeks later, I have received a $1000 bill for the device and am having to call my insurance and the specialty company that provided it.The medical assistants are rude and unhelpful throughout the process, and I feel like the doctor lied to me about fixing this issue with other patients in the first place.avoid this place!!!!!

If you are looking for a compassionate, trustworthy and intelligent OBGYN then you should try Dr. Laura Downing.  I have never found such a great doctor that treats you like a human and shows she genuinely cares about her patients.  Dr. D gets to know you and what is important to you without forcing something that you do not want. Dr. D is currently my OB and assisting me in my first pregnancy. From the moment she walks into the door she listens to you and doesn't try to rush you out of the door. I have had a difficult pregnancy with constant vomiting from week 6 of my pregnancy, to well into my second trimester (24+ weeks). Instead of brushing me off she has tried everything to make sure I receive the best care possible.  No matter how many questions I have had (which I assure you have been a lot) she remains patient and caring, even checking on me on during her lunch break when I have been in Labor & Delivery for IV Fluids. I truly hope my baby will be cooperative and I will have Dr. D deliver my baby because she is truly the best doctor I have ever been to. Thank you Dr D!!

Dr. Downing provided care during my second pregnancy and delivered my son. She is amazing. She answered all my questions throughout my pregnancy. During labor and deliver she made sure I was extremely comfortable, both mentally and emotionally/mentally.

Dr. Downing is fantastic! I feel very comfortable with her and she is so nice!  She really cares about her patients and is very upfront and honest. The office is always clean and organized. The medical staff is always very friendly and you don't have to wait forever for an appointment.  I would recommend her to anyone!

I have been trying to find a GYN that I can relate to and feel comfortable with, the way it's supposed to be...I truly believe I have found that in Dr. Laura Downing!  I am 50 years old and the last 10 years have been a roller coaster of trying to secure a physician in this specialty that really 'listens to me' and does not have a one size fits all.  With the change of life approaching it is more critical that I have someone to help guide me in what might be best for getting though this interesting period, and I have found I am able to depend on her.  Not only does she present with an awesome/friendly bedside manner, she is very responsive and follows through promptly.  She asks me questions - a lot of questions - to really dig and understand what is clinically going on.  I have not had that in a gynecologist since my 20's (that physician has long retired).  I have worked in the Austin medical community for over 25 years and know that I had many choices on physicians, however, I thought I would try someone closer to home and not focus so much on rather or not I have / have not heard of this doctor's name...best decision I could have made!  She is located in Central Austin's Medical Arts Square so it is easy to access.  There is an adequate amount of parking as well - no garage ticket. The office waiting area is nice and inviting and the entire office is kept very clean and organized.  The staff is prompt in following up for insurance information as well as appointment confirmation (huge for my busy schedule)!  The patient portal to access your medical records is very user friendly as well as the email messaging option. The Medical Assistant / Nursing staff really stay on top of your messages - love it! I highly recommend Dr. Laura Downing for your OB/GYN needs. You will not be disappointed!

Dr. Downing is excellent.  Not only did she take the time to listen to my symptoms, but she was also willing to listen to my own research that I'd done for condition management.  She had clearly taken the time to research before my appointment (making my wait time longer but completely worth it, I'm willing to wait for better quality care), and took care to explain all the details to me.  Having been to 3 other gynos in my life, I definitely recommend her the most!
