Live Oak Estates Assisted Living Homes's Online Review Report Card

My mother lived at English Oak House with Live Oak Estates Assisted Living Homes for 2 1/2 years. Every staff member took such great care of her and she loved and trusted them. And so did I. There was great food (which my mother loved), laughter all the time, wonderful residents and their families. They knew my Mom well and were always on top of her care. My Mom recently passed and they were so supportive. I thank Wendy and Clint, Linda, Sid, and all the staff. Our extended family is forever grateful.

We can't speak highly enough about Adam (House Manager at Sunland House). He cares about the residents and staff & has an amazing temperament that the residents respond to. He connected with my mother on a spiritual level and she trusted him very much. Because of that trust, he was able to help motivate her when no one else could. We feel very blessed that the Sunland House as available for such an important time in her life. Thank you so much. Steve & Sherry Thompson

We moved my dad here after stints in several other assisted living homes. Live Oak Estates was by far the most attentive and caring of them all. The staff has a positive attitude that I haven't seen anywhere else. My dad did swallow therapy here and amazingly got off of his feeding tube, thanks to the the staff's dedicated efforts. The facility is in a house in a normal neighborhood, so it feels homey. Highly recommended for assisted living.

We moved my dad to Live Oak Estates after some less-than-ideal experiences at other care homes in the area. Live Oak's staff is so friendly, respectful, and sincerely cares about their residents in a much more personal way than we saw elsewhere. Adam, the house manager, was especially great to my dad and brought my dad a lot of comfort and joy in his final months. I truly wish we had found Live Oak Estates sooner.

I was searching for a facility where my father could be closer to us in Austin and go onto Hospice care. Two friends recommended Live Oak, and from my initial phone call until the end of my father's stay, we were extremely happy with our experience. The owner took the time to talk with us and communication was very easy with him and the staff. My father required intense care, and each staff member took the time to care for him as he needed, talking to him patiently, observing what he needed when we couldn't, and caring for us as well. They went above and beyond my expectations. Live Oak is more than a facility, it feels like a home. I saw teamwork among the staff that resulted in better care for my father and the other residents. This is a special place and I believe it's a result of the genuine care the owners and staff have for those living under their roof and their families.

I took care of my husband at home as long as I could, but when he needed more support and 24/7 oversight, Live Oak Estates was perfect! We had been to many other Rehabilitation / Assisted Living facilities in South Austin and none of them provided the personalized care in a home environment like LIve Oak. There are three different assisted living homes to choose from. Sunland was perfect for my husband as the staff not only provided routine hands-on care with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) but did so in a nurturing and caring way. Family always welcome. Highly recommend!

My mother was taken care of here for the last 7 months of her life. We were reluctant to move her from her "independent living" apartment , however it was a truly wonderful decision. She adapted incredibly well and thrived much better there. Smelling the home-cooked food really seemed to help her appetite, and she actually started putting back on weight which she had lost being "independent". The staff were loving, attentive and caring. Minor problems with her were reported and solved quickly. She was able to stay there on hospice and transition to her death with no trauma or separation from family. Much better than dying in a hospital. I whole heartedly recommend this home if needed for a loved one.

I moved my wife from another assisted living facility to Live Oak Estates and I am so thankful I made that decision. When she started her stay at LIve Oak Estates, she was on oxygen, was not eating, and was not expected to live much longer. With the wonderful care she received from Hospice and the loving Live Oak staff she started eating again, was taken off oxygen, and we were able to keep her with us another 3 years. The care residents receive at Live Oak is more personalized than the larger facilities. It feels more like a home. I would highly recommend Live Oak Estates to anyone looking for an assisted living facility. The owners and the staff were extremely helpful and caring. I so much appreciated everything they did for my wife and our family.

My mother needed to be moved from independant living to an environment that was more "eyes on." Physically she was good but mentally, not so much. I feel like the home like atmosphere was a better fit than a large memory care facility. My mother was able to do some "chores" like fold her own laundry that helped with her need to be involved. The house was clean. The meals were home cooked and snacks were plentiful. The staff was friendly and warm. Even though my mother could be a challenge at times, the staff was very patient with her. My mother had a big stroke and hospice was called in. I am grateful that she was able to spend her final week in her home and not in the hospital. We were able to be with her, as much as Covid restrictions allowed, and felt welcomed and comforted by the staff. I would recommend Live Oak Estates and would not hesitate to move another friend or family there. (She was at the Sunland location.)

My brother lived here for a year after becoming disabled from cancer treatment. He suffered from aphasia and it was hard for him to ask for help or express his needs. The staff at Live Oak Estates really got to know him well and understand everything he was trying to say. They took extra time for special care like taking him for walks in the neighborhood, which he absolutely loved. The staff to resident ratio is very low and there was always someone nearby to help him when he needed it. I highly recommend this facility.
