List of Lone Star Pediatrics's Reviews
My daughter had her first appoint at Lone Star Pediatrics today, and it went so smoothly. The receptionists were welcoming and helpful, and the nurse who attended us was fun and animated. Nicole Bernard, MD, FAAP, who is our new PCP, was lovely! She was kind, thoughtful, and her joyful energy made the check-up easy for my daughter. She also was attentive to each step in the check-up, including making sure any questions we had were answered. I am very impressed, and we look forward to returning for check-ups in the future.
Special thanks to Dr Omonfoma Uwadiala whom God used to save my life. I was suffering from virus and blood issue which I have spent so much money treating, I have visited different physician and different Doctors just to get heal but still there was no healing, instead it grew from bad to worse. I spent all I had till I became broke and stricken
They get 10 stars from me! I took my son here from the age of 6 months - 2 years. The staff, nurses and doctors are so kind and accommodating. They are attentive, considerate and well-informed. The only reason we stopped going there was because my son was diagnosed with cancer and his new doctor was his oncologist. The team at Texas Children's Pediatrics (formerly Lone Star Pediatrics) caught it quickly.
Could not speak more highly of Gwen Collman! My partner and I have never been to a doctor in our entire lives that makes us as comfortable ash she does. She listens, she recommends, she never pushes or pressures. She recommends with the understanding that we are new parents so she wants to help us, but also never pressures us or makes us feel like she’s forcing any ideas or anything on us. Every single time we bring our baby in she makes us feel like he is the most important baby to her and that we are the best parents she’s ever met. It’s a wonderful feeling, though I know she gives everyone this enthusiasm. You can tell she truly loves children and what she does. She never makes any question, however redundant, feel like a stupid one. I feel like she respects us as parents and we are so lucky to have found her! She’s a treasure to our family and has made navigating new parenthood that much easier.

My son has gone here since he was born 7 years ago. It was Lone Star Pediatrics before. I honestly was nervous for them to change to Tx Children's, but the patient portal makes things so convenient. The downside is their central billing office is a little crazy. They have been calling me threatening me to send me to collections for our $30 co-pay that they forget to get in the office. I look on the portal and I don't owe anything and when I call the office directly they don't know what I'm talking about. When the billing place calls I try to answer but nobody ever answers on the other end which is why I thought it was a scam caller. It's just annoying. Please take my money before I leave! So billing brings it down just 1 star. The employees are all great and as far as I can tell most from when it was Lone Star have been retained. We see Dr Bernard as our PCP but Gwen the nurse practitioner is usually who we see for illness visits and she's really great with my son. Of course COVID has been a trying time for everyone, but the office handles it well. We've been in for COVID testing and all the proper protocols are followed. My son has asthma and allergies and so he perpetually has a bit of runny nose and a little cough which freaks everyone out, but I'd rather them be more cautious rather than less. Our usual doctor was out and we saw Dr Thorstad who is also fabulous. She spent so much time with us when we came in and I appreciate it because it was the end of the day and nobody wants an appointment to go long, but she didn't seem to worry about the clock which was refreshing. The MAs and front desk staff are very nice and professional as well. This is why we stay, it's the whole place. I can't bring myself to take star away for a off-site central billing company, but I would take 1/2 star away.
UPD: was resolved in about a week after the practice manager contacted their financial department. ‐------------ Terrible financial department. They made a mistake in the bill (tried to charge for doctor visit instead of vactination by nurse) and after several reminders did not fix anything. Yes, I talked with front office and with financial dep several times, and every time they promised fix the bill and charge insurance. But they did not. Just send that fake bill to collectors.
My family has used this office for almost 15 years. The doctors and nurse practitioners are awesome. Unfortunately... the local office got bought by a bigger conglomerate. Now the front desk staff and billing staff are a nightmare. This isn't the caring and local doctor practice that it once was. If you can get past the front desk unpleasantness, the doctors are really good.If you read old reviews, a lot of that staff are no longer there. Dr. Thorstad is great, but she hasn't been available to see us in years.
I recently moved TX and choose Lone Star Pediatrics because of the great reviews. I was a little nervous going because I hadn't contacted my daughters old doctors to have her records forwarded like I should have, but all of the staff were very helpful and friendly. We waited less than 5 minutes before we were called back. Dr Bernard was thorough and attentive and has the best positive personality. Her nurse was awesome too, she patiently answered all of my questions and made my daughter feel comfortable. My daughter is very shy and they knew how to talk with her and get her to open up. All in all we're very happy with this office!
We see Dr. Bernard and she’s an absolute gem! She sings and comes in like a ray of light! Something that is so necessary when you are a pediatric doctor. She makes going to see the doctor an stinking breeze. I always personally look forward to seeing her because she’s just the sweetest. Does your kids doctor give YOU a hug and tell YOU that you’re doing a great job mama? If not, come here! They always remind you. My kids love her and I love her. The other doctors and nurses are also so sweet. The entire staff is great and the office is Texan! Thank you for all that you do Dr. Bernard and staff! Y’all are awesome!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
