List of Mark Levitan's Reviews
I called to get an appointment and they were able to fit me in the next day. Although, there appeared to be a lot of people there they moved quickly to get the different types of exams done. Yet, it never felt like they were rushing. Everyone answered all my questions and explained every process before doing it. Explained what and why they were doing process as it went. Everyone I dealt with was very nice from the people checking me in and out, to the different techs and the DR himself.
I was pretty nervous at first because I never went through anything serious dealing with my eyes. The staff explained how the procedure would take place. So that calmed my nerves. The procedure was quick and wasn't painful. I know it's going to work out fine. And definitely want to give thanks to the optometrist name Geronimo. And a big thanks to doctor Mark Levitan and his staff.Thank You From Jerome Lee
Excellent evaluation of retina issues and explanation of retina health
Forever grateful Dr Levitan met me his office after hrs I had detached retina He saved my vision Latest diagnostics, therapies He always listens to concerns Well organized staff I recommend w/out hesitation
Dr. Mark Levitan always inspires confidence that I am receiving the most thorough and professional care available. I would recommend him without reservation to anyone.
I had the best experience. I was. nervous at first but Dr Levitan put me at ease and the process went extremely well. I am so glad I went to this particular retina facility. The Staff was very good also. Everyone was professional and courteous.
Dr. Levitan is dismissive, condescending and borderline abusive. Dr. Levitan rushed to the conclusion that my mother needed a shot in her eye after reviewing my mother's test results for a maximum of two minutes. This was the first time my mom had ever been to a retina specialist. To people that have never been in this environment before, hearing that you need to get a shot in the eyeball is very alarming. He offered a one sentence explanation as to why my mother needed the shot in her eye filled with medical jargon that my mother and I were unfamiliar with. I asked for him to show me the area of my mother's eye that was damaged so I could have a thorough understanding of what was going on before we agreed to get a shot right there on the spot. My questions were met with an AGGRESSIVE, dismissive attitude and curt explanation. To paint a clear picture, my mother is elderly and has always been non-confrontational. She would rather appease someone than cause any trouble. She's seriously the nicest lady in the world. After being so caught of guard and visibly shaken by his attitude, my mother agreed to get the shot. I tried to talk her out of it because I knew she was only agreeing because his attitude was so aggressive and upsetting to her. WHAT HAPPENED NEXT STILL BOTHERS ME TO THIS DAY. He asked her to turn her head to the right and instead she turned to the left (she's older, give her a break). HE PUSHED/JERKED HER HEAD TO THE RIGHT WHERE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE. My mom made a noise and was clearly upset. THEN, WITH NO HESITATION AND NO WARNING, HE SHOVED THE NEEDLE INTO MY MOTHER'S EYE. There was no apology for being so rough, just a doctor who discarded the needle and nearly ran to his next patient. We were both appalled and left in a state of shock. To top it all off, my mom told me after we left that the girl who did her eye exam also shoved her head to where it was supposed to be instead of asking her to move a little bit. My mother was so horrified by her experience with Dr. Levitan and Austin Retina Associates that she won't even let me take her back to a different retina specialist. Shame on you Dr. Levitan. Austin Retina Associates clearly only cares about their bottom line. Everyone in the office is curt and in a rush. You are simply just a dollar sign to them. That's it. For the love of kind, elderly, fragile people like my mom, AVOID THIS PLACE AND DOCTOR!!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT SEND A FAMILY MEMBER HERE.

My mom is 91 years old. She is blind in one eye and almost totally blind in the other. She has been getting injections in that good eye for years to save what little vision she has. She receives these injections once every month and a half and the time involved has been up to 3 hours for each appointment.Yesterday, she saw Dr. Levitan for the first time. I dropped her off at her appointment thinking I would have to wait a couple of hours. I went shopping and came back to wait for her, but she was ready already! They took her in immediately and she was out of there in 45 minutes! Not only that, Dr. Levitan told her she had fluid on that eye and wants to have her checked out by another doctor in a month. She is 91, but Dr. Levitan told her he wants to save what vision she has and that is commendable!
It’s always been my Mom’s experience that Dr Levitan is very professional, attentive to my concerns and truly cares about me as his patient.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
