List of Paul Pickrell's Reviews
I WAS a patient for years until my last apt when a new female came into the office and basically rushed me out. I had done blood work and seen Dr. P for several years, prior to this. I did not see the Dr and was told they would call me to follow up and schedule my next visit. I NEVER heard back or got return phone calls. Sad, I liked working with him, but have moved on. Terrible experience.
I love Dr Pickrell. I saw him for years, many years ago, at his independent practice in S Austin. Lost touch (my fault, caring for aging parents) then found him again working for a Pain Mgmt practice as they started up a Rheumatology area of practice. I was thrilled to locate him again. Today, I found out he’s leaving there...but no info on where he’s going! I really only want to see him, no others. I’m spoiled, admittedly. He diagnosed me with RA, with markers, but a milder case originally. Originally, I saw him due to arthritis type pain all over, and he investigated me thoroughly to determine cause. He didn’t give up. I eventually found out I had something only partially related to arthritis. Finally, RA markers appeared which clearly pointed to RA. I am a pretty complicated case, having brain and other tumors, spinal issues, clotting issues, etc. I find him humorous, kind, gentle and thorough. I think anyone would benefit from seeing him, since he handles all Rheumatology illnesses. I cannot imagine anyone having anything awful to say about him! He has many, many years of experience and currently also does research, on the side, investigating remedies for RA. This alone, has many benefits. He is one of my favorite physicians. I do hope he’s going to open or join another practice.
I have dealt with pain my whole life, and have seen plenty of doctors. Dr. Pickrell is stellar when explaining his findings, and he is the kindest, most compassionate man. Thank you, Dr. Pickrell!
I'm a nurse who has suffered severe pain for over almost 20 years now. It began to become a problem in my 20s but I was hesitant to speak of it. I was pushed around by doctors who made me think I was actually crazy. They ordered psych meds which made me super groggy and told me to give it time. I cried every day in pain just to get out of bed. I used to love waking up feeling the hot water beat against my skin in the shower but now this hurt. I beat myself up wondering if I was truly going crazy or not. I still remember my first visit with Dr. Prickrell. I yelled at him out of frustration about fibromyalgia and said it was just a disorder doctors came up with when the couldn't figure out a diagnosis. Long story short... He said he would fix me. Before Dr Pickrell I was ready to give up on life. Can't thank you enough. So terrified about my next doctor because you are one of a kind. Cara Constable. Big hug and thank you.

So heartbroken that he closed his office. He was the best doctor that I ever encountered and I still miss his smile, laughters and hugs! I wish him and his staff the best the future can offer to such a caring group of people! They are truly missed beyond imagination! Tee
I was Dr. Pickrell's patient for almost 3 years. Now, I'm trying to reach him for a prescription refill and I learn the office is permanently closed! No notice to patients? Shameful.
I have an appointment with Dr. Paul Pickrell August 4, 2017. I called their office and it's a "non-working" number. The Hill Country Galleria office said he just left overnight and took all of the patient files. What now?!?!?!!!!!!
After being Dr. Pickrell's patient for about 15 years, I am soooo upset that he is leaving the state. He is the only doctor I've seen with such personal care for his patients. If only all doctors were like him! I wish him the best. Kathleen
I have been his patient for 13 years, and agree with you 100%. Dr. Pickrell is the best doctor i have seen in Texas and he has set the bar high for all others. He figured out that I have a very rare form of R.A. he had my diagnosis figured out within my first year of seeing him. He truly cares about all his patients and he is always straightforward when answering questions even if his answer is he doesn't know but he will find out. My mom and Aunt started seeing him about 5 years ago and he was just as great with their treatment and diagnosis. He never gives up on treating you even if your symptoms and labs dont exactly add up to a certain diagnosis. Like other doctors have checklist syndrome where they have a list and if you don't match their checklist they pass you along to another doctor. Dr. Pickrell always explained that there are common and rare symptoms, that not everyone has the same symptoms. He is compassionate, thorough and he gets you answers.Doctor Pickrell set the bar high and I am so sad that he has decided to close his practice. After being his patient for 13 years and am terrified I wont find the same compassion and care from another rheumatologist. In my opinion his leaving (and so suddenly) is a huge loss to all his patients and the medical community. I will really miss him and wish him all the best.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
