List of Red River Family Practice's Reviews
I've been a patient for over twenty years. Dr. Killian is my primary and it seems he personally knows me and I appreciate his straightforward approach. I'm baffled by the low ratings others made.
At Red River you are two things: 1. An endless source of statistical information to be reported to the city, county and state levels for tracking and funding. Sneeze? Let's run some tests. Sunburn? Tests. Time for your "normal" tests? Let's add some new tests. Regardless of whether or not you will find out by the normal course things run in 2 days, let's get some lab work done so that we will know for sure in 2 days. 2. A tokenized representation of a continuous known and lucrative source of guaranteed revenue for the office, the pharmacy of your choice and a pharmaceutical company. Your very life is no longer your own and your continued existence is now held hostage. You will comply, or you will die. If you are new to the game, do yourself a favor: go to one of the only other 2-3 enterprises in town that at least won't make you come and spend half a day in the office and pay for the luxury of parking. Telemed is the only medical breakthrough you will experience in your new less than life, so you might as well select the option that requires the least amount of sitting around and waiting. After all, you need to get back to work if you want to be able to afford health insurance...or else. As one positive, they at least do not engage in the gross corpo-speech of the other places. No one will be droning on about your personal care team or the like.
Got told they weren’t accepting new patients until April & because I have ADHD they wouldn’t accept me as a new patient even just to do my annual wellness / physical. What the… what?
I love Red River Family Practice! I've been going to Dr. Hutto for years and he is a real gem--I always leave feeling heard and supported. Just very down to earth care from the team there, I really appreciate it.
Left voicemail. Received call back two days later. As the poor reviews say, you have to fill out the paperwork before they will schedule an appointment. They email you the PDFs for you to fax back. I’ve never had a clinic do things this way, and I’ve been to many different clinics. After reading the poor office scheduling reviews, I’m not going here.
The Admin team will make you jump through an unreasonable number of hoops before you can score an appointment, and they're the type of office that will make you print, scan, and fax. The 1980's called, and their next available appointment is two months down the line!
I called to make an appointment as a new patient and got one on the calendar I was sent new patient paperwork. On the paperwork sent to me, it stated that the appointment couldn't be booked until the paperwork was submitted. I moved and it took me a few weeks to get the paperwork back to them. The day before the appointment I received no call, text, or any way of knowing that the appointment booked was still valid. But then I got a call that I missed the appointment. News to me. The appointment wasn't confirmed, and I got zero notification that it was still on their calendar. Turns out their office policy is to not book with patients who miss their first appointment. This was after I called them four times and didn't receive one call back. Hands down the most incompetent medical office I have ever dealt with.
I have been seeing Dr. Gary Werntz with Red River Family Practice (RRFP) around 18 years. I haven't had a single complaint with the doctor/doctors or any of the RRFP staff. When I read a negative comment about RRFP it makes me wonder if they are talking about the same practice! I HIGHLY recommend their doctors and staff. There is an independent lab within the office. It is very convenient when lab draws are needed. The results come back quicker, too. 👌
I’ve been going to RRFP for a long time now. Staff and facilities are always clean and professional. I see Dr Hutto, I’m always able to schedule an appointment on their portal or by phone. Dr Hutto has incredible bedside manner and I always feel heard during my visits. Previously, at other practices — I saw doctors that made me feel they weren’t mentally present in the room with me to hear all of my concerns. I definitely recommend friends and family go see Dr Hutto at RRFP
I have been coming here for nearly 10 years, but the past couple of years it's been extremely subpar. I had a UTI a few months back and requested to get in, the first they could see me was in two weeks so I ended up spending hundreds of dollars on urgent care. And then when I requested something yesterday for a quick sick visit, they book me a time without confirming with me first. When I say I can't make it in, they tell me it's a $50 cancellation fee when I never confirmed the appointment. What is the point of having a primary care doctor if they can't see you when you need it, and then charge you for appointments you haven't confirmed? Incredibly frustrating experience, it's so hard to find decent primary care these days.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
