Dr Elkin and his staff are among the most qualified and compassionate people I have ever met. They work with you when needed and make sure your needs are met. Whether it be appointments, insurance issues, or new med questions. I highly recommend

Same excellent care from Dr. E, but wanted to update to say that Jane is amazing! She is absolutely on top of everything, a hard worker, prompt, and incredibly reliable. Really and truly, top notch. I am just so impressed.

Dr. Elkin has changed my life. I've started TMS therapy and he has helped me get in control of my life. He's matter-of-fact and I appreciate and need that in my journey.

Terrible doctor. Will overmedicate and get you hospitalized. You'll be lucky to survive.

Dr. Scott Elkin played a major role in getting my life going in an excellent direction. He started off with helping me with treatment for anxiety. A couple years later I suffered from a brain injury. He stepped in and became the “director of the show” to make sure that I got the best care possible, when I wasn’t able to care for myself. I’m not sure how I would of gotten through that time in my life without him. He knows how to talk about heavy conversations in a calm, light hearted manner. He makes excellent analogies, that make even the most complicated things very easy to understand. He is not only a great psychiatrist, but also an amazing human that cares deeply about his patients. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better medical professional to be on my side. Thank you for everything that you do!

The front desk staff is extremely rude and lacking in empathy. The office policies are harsh and not thinking of the actual patient needs.... especially when working with patients who have mental health needs. They are difficult to work with for refills that don't require an appointment (have to follow up multiple times to get the pharmacist what they need) and charge $15 for you to pick up a script that cannot just be called into the pharmacy (and the follow up appointment was scheduled for 2 months out at the recommendation of the practitioner.) Getting adequate and appropriate mental health care is difficult in Austin... this place isn't helping to make it accessible to people in need.

Dr. Elkin is truly an outstanding psychiatrist. For anyone with experience in this area, you know that the process of finding a good therapist is like dating: it can be challenging, even to the point of being unpleasant, until you find "the one." Well let me tell you, Dr. Elkin is THE ONE, and I feel very blessed to have found him.Dr. Elkin is extremely intelligent, intuitive, and exhibits a vast working knowledge of psychiatric, emotional, and mental disorders. Dr. E. not only treats the underlying issue(s), but provides strategies (and medication, if needed) to overcome symptoms that persist.Dr. Elkin has been a life saver. Dr. Elkin has given me strategies for bettering my relationship, eating healthier, handling school stress, work stress, etc. Furthermore, Dr. Elkin's staff has been extremely helpful, and on numerous occasions has dealt with insurance companies on my behalf.Dr. Elkin is one of those extraordinary psychiatrists who is wholeheartedly committed to your full mental, emotional, and physical well-being, and I am grateful to be one of his patients.

Dr. Elkin and his PA, Katie Martin, do not care about their customers (yes I said customers not patients). My first appointment (which was booked a month out) was never put into their calendar system. These things happen, so I booked another appointment (booked a month out again). One day prior to my appointment, a front desk clerk emailed to let me know Katie would be out of the office. She didn't apologize and said the next available appointment is available next month. Ok fine, it happens, I need medication and it's hard to find psychiatrists in Austin so I took the appointment.First appointment: Katie was 20 minutes late to my appointment. She was unfriendly and had horrible bedside manner (eating during the appointment, unfriendly, not welcoming). Furthermore, her clinical skills were poor (I am also in the psychology field) and she did not investigate my family history thoroughly or perform a risk assessment for my specific symptoms. Whatever, I just need a prescription for an antidepressant, I'll deal with it.Second appointment: AGAIN one day before my appointment, the front desk sends me an email (NOT a phone call) to let me know Katie will be out of the office. She tells me that her next appointment is a month from now unapologetically. Best practice for administering SSRIs means that a doctor must check for changes in symptoms and side effects 4 weeks after the new prescription. Guess this clinic doesn't care about best practice for medication!I'm astonished that a practice that is supposed to care about mental health treats their patients so poorly. This practice is unethical and their bedside manner is atrocious. Find someone else. You'll probably get better quality care there too.
