Dr Hammel contracts out his office to various mental health professionals and we have found there is low quality control and high turnover of these individuals . We have hired several of them in various capacities to help our child and we’re highly disappointed in quality of care. Working with Dr. Hammel, his wife Lisa and other staff was the only pleasant part of our experience with the Leander School district. While we are in shock that LISD spends so much money attempting not to provide services to our children, we are very grateful that there are people like the Hammel’s who actually care and want what is best for the child. Highly recommend.

Be Aware that Dr. Hammel is a psychologist not a Neuropsychologist even though he performs neuropsychological assessments ! He did a poor job in accurately assessing and putting into layman’s terms our child’s issues. It felt like he was grasping at straws and years later after assessments by a Board Certified Neuropsychologist, we found out that he was! This was at the cost of years of valuable therapy and appropriate treatment and school interventions that could have been had. Dr. Hammel has disserviced our child and this will cost her indefinitely. Dr. Hammel is not in a position to be assessing neuropsychological status of children nor directing their therapy. Do you research carefully.

Dr. Hammel is the consummate professional and a leading expert in the field providing much needed services for children, teens & adults. His assessments are on point, with treatment recommendations that include practical suggestions for teachers and families to use in real world settings. He's also a great therapist. Office staff are great, always ready to help with scheduling issues, paperwork, insurance questions, and the like. Just a really nice group of people overall.
