Dr. Chen provided my aging mother with exceptional care for 4 years at a Senior Community in Austin. His loyalty to his patients and their families was unparalleled. He often called us after hours to follow up and offer support.Upon my Moms passing he reached out to our family and shared his fond memories of time spent caring for our Mother.I couldn't have asked for a better health care provider!

Outstanding Physician and Person My first interaction with Dr. Chen was the day we moved Mom to an assisted living facility. His compasson, professionalism, and breadth of knowlegde immediately impressed me. His constant attention to and care of Mom continues to be excellent and she continually tells me that he is the best doctor. Dr. Chen brings a trust and warmth to his patients that makes them feel safe. When I call with a question, he responds immediately. Similarly, he notifies me and dicusses any suggestions he has for medication adjustments. Dr. Chen brings the unique combination of medical experience, kindness, empathey to patients in his care.

My dad is going to live longer thanks to Dr Chen! One year ago my father was living 1500 miles away from me in an assisted living facility. He was in very poor health and he had been in the hospital (plus rehab) a few times. I could never get in touch with his doctor and became really concerned about his health and level of care, so I moved him to an ALF near me. That's when Dr. Chen entered the picture.He is a breath of fresh air! He takes such good care of my father and is an excellent communicator. Any time I've needed to call Dr. Chen (day or night) he calls me right back. He always calls me after a visit with my dad. He explains everything asks how I think my dad is doing. He listens to both me and my dad and takes action where needed. One year ago my father's health was so poor, I thought we wouldn't have much time left with him. Now? He's lost weight, his labs have improved greatly and he is always in the best mood! I feel like we might have 10 more years with him. Let's clone Dr. Chen!

A caring and kind doctor! Dr. Chen cared for our mom during the last year of her battle with Alzheimer's. He was so good with her - she loved him. And I really appreciated how thorough and knowledgable he is about dementia and its related conditions. There are so many hard decisions that families have to make, and Dr. Chen always explained the various options and their pros and cons. We felt very much like we were all on the same team with Dr. Chen and Mom's facility. He was super responsive when we had questions and followed up appropriately when necessary. He was so helpful to us as well when we had to consider end of life care. His compassion and his expertise made the decisions so much easier to make. Dr. Chen is very much appreciated!

Dr Chen is a thorough and compassionate doctor We found Dr Chen when we moved my father to a new residence. Dr Chen always takes time with my father, treating him with respect and compassion while he asks him questions and examines him. While my father's dementia worsens, Dr Chen continues to care for him with the same respect, always formally addressing him, etc. He's been attentive to his medical needs and always calls me after he sees my father. He asks my opinion and includes me in his care recommendations. He's honest, direct and always answers all of my questions. We're glad we found Dr Chen for my father's last years.

Felt like a concierge doctor Dr. Shawn Chen epitomizes the best that an internist can bring to the table. He is not only impeccably trained, but he has an accessiblilty not common for doctors. Dr. Chen has been the primary care doctor for at least two years for my mother in law. He is an excellent listener and suggests what are the best options for her in her current condition. He visits her regularly as well as when requested and communicates with us, to make sure that we are all on the same page. Dr. Chen coordinates with all of her many specialists and is the sole point of contact for anything related to her care. He is a kind, compassionate and caring person, in addition to his well-rounded medical expertise. I highly recommend him to seniors who want to find a very experienced geriatric health care physician who genuinely cares about his patents.
