Thiru V Lakshman's Online Review Report Card

Appointment was at 10:30. I filled out forms online prior to going but still got there at 10 as a new patient. Staff said I didn’t fill out online. So filled out in person. Finished by 10:10. At 11:30 I left because I had another appointment at 12:30 45 minutes closer to home. Will not be going back.

Dr. Lakshman was on standby and performed an appendectomy as part of my Endometriosis excision and total hysterectomy in April 2021 (the latter part of which was performed by an excision/Endo specialist named Dr. Devin Garza). I felt like he did not fully prepare me for his involvement so I was confused about the basic plan and then unable to get in touch with his staff about it prior to surgery (after my consult with him) as no one would return my patient portal message (they answered ONE of my questions in the portal EVENTUALLY but not ALL and then would not get back to me) or call me back (getting ahold of someone there can be a real challenge obviously). They told me they were working to get their phone lines back in order so hopefully that is working now but the whole time I was a patient communication was not effective most of the time and that was extremely frustrating. I felt like he was somewhat dismissive and not much willing to help me (he only gave recommendations of gastro doctors to help beyond his involvement Because I asked) even though I came to him complaining of significant gut pain (before AND after surgery). He would check his watch during our appointments like I was taking too long (because I actually ask questions). No one at his practice (including him) seemed to care much that my correct and complete medical history was never FULLY entered into my records there (even though I printed it out and handed it to them and entered it ALL in myself prior to the appointment, it never all actually made it to my chart with him. I brought this up and was mocked). His nurse actually MOCKED me for asking about this. I realize his function was not a primary care or gastro doctor, but I was still disappointed and hurt by this experience.

Recent colectomy, Dr Lakshman used robotic da Vinci minimally invasive surgery which results in a quicker recovery. Dr was personable and answered questions. Based on my recovery he did an outstanding job with my surgery and I would highly recommend him to anyone needing this surgery. Two hospital nurses sang his praises as well without my even asking for their opinion- a good sign. His Office staff is subpar, as most seem to be these days, but this review is for Dr alone.

Dr Lakshman is a very skilled surgeon, and easy to talk to. I’m very blessed to have had him for my surgeon.

This doctor is fabulous. He is very knowledgeable in his speciality. I had surgery with him and found him to be very warm, caring, and easy to talk to. Even my friends waiting for me through the surgery found him to be very nice and thoughtful.

He is very knowledgeable in his specialization. I had surgery with him and found him to be very friendly, caring, and has a sense of humor. I would highly recommend to anyone facing colon surgery.

Although I found Dr. Lakshman to be an excellent surgeon I did not find his office staff to hold the same standard. Many times I called the office and no one ever answered the phones nor did a recording come on to leave a message. I had surgery three weeks ago and still haven’t been able to make my follow up appointment. Before surgery I called multiple time to address some presurgery questions and the same thing occurred. I think it was three days before I was able to get someone. I find this to be unacceptable.

Dr. Laksman has an incredible bedside manner. He is so knowledgeable, informative, and shows true concern for the patient

Dr Lakshman and his staff have been very professional and great at keeping me in the loop every step of the way. He is very receptive to all my questions and I never felt rushed during our visits!
